This is the only section of the Great Wall that crosses a river. It's beautiful and set in the mountains. One section is closed off to tourists as it hasn't been rebuilt. We visited in February just before Chinese New Year, so we were lucky and got this part of Great Wall almost for ourselves. I would recommend to visit this part of the wall, it will give you the chance to see not only the only bridge in the great wall but also excellent restored as well as some unrestored sections... More

It is a little out of the way, and there is no public transport to get there, but worth the trip. It is basically a bridge section with a restored section heading from the river up the mountain. The site is very beautiful. Not many tourist (Chinese or foreigners). After going to Mutianyu it's a much smaller portion of the wall but because there isn't many tourist worth our climb. Cost 80RMB each (more expensive than Mutianyu 45 RMB). As you are there you should include a trip to the Old Dragon Head, where the Great Wall ends... More

The reconstructed section of the great wall at Jiumenkou is quite small, and also features a rather sorry bird zoo. Rather than paying for the ticket and visit the actual site, I’d much rather recommend to climb up to the right along the unrestored section: good views, much less crowded.
