The Palapala Ho'omau Church is located just past the Kīpahulu part of the Haleakalā National Park and is also located about 12 miles past the town of Hāna (on the famous Road to Hana). The church is about a half mile past the Kīpahulu Visitor Center. You have to turn left off the Road to Hana towards the ocean (where... More

My husband and I and another couple set out early one morning in late 1978 to find Lindberg's grave. The people in Hana either knew little about the man and his burial site or were not willing to share the information at that time. After searching for a good while we spotted a little church off the road, but had... More

We made the trip further out away from Hana from the Oheo Gulch/sacred pools etc (separate reviews) to the small hidden Church, a local place of worship that feels genuinely peaceful and sacred. It's hidden down a laneway sited next to the Kipahulu Point Light Station, right out on the tip of the land. Look for the paved one lane... More

We enjoyed the stop at the Palapala Ho‘omau Congregational Church on our Hana tour. There is a peaceful and simple little chapel, and we were interested and surprised to find out that Charles Lindbergh is buried on the grounds. Beautiful trees, the nearby coast, flowers and other greenery decorate the property. I enjoyed walking the grounds and taking pictures. Definitely... More

After hiking the Pipiwai trail, we drove on and almost missed the left hand turn to this church which is past the mile 41 marker. You might be really super tired with all this Hana business but keep going! The church itself is small and quaint. After parking your car you will find Charles Lindbergh's on the edge of the... This little church was a perfect place to walk through to settle the mind in the midst of the adventures on the Hana Highway. We went to see Charles Lindbergh's grave, but we truly loved and appreciated the church's open doors welcoming us. It was beautiful, quiet, and a welcomed stop on the Road to Hana.

This is a little over a mile to the west of the Kipahulu Visitor Center. There is a small sign on the left-hand side HI-330 for the Maui Stables for the turn on a small dirt road to the church. There is not a lot of parking at this location. While we were there, another couple was also visiting as... More

Located eight miles south of Hana and one mile south of the Ohe'o Gulch on the makai side of Highway 31 is the Palapala Ho'omau Church. A narrow road around mile marker 41 leads to the church. A small sign pointing left which says Limited Parking is tacked on the side of a tree marking the road. Many people miss... More

A quaint little chuch, we were there to see the grave site and the church was not open. actually we were the only people there. Just to the right of the front door is a slot for donations. We left a donation if for nothing else a beautiful quiet place to stroll.
