The walking tour takes about one hour and has a number system that explains the plants that are found on three laminated sheets that are provided when you enter. The laminated sheets describe the plants native home and attributes. The garden contains plants from around the world.

This was the most gorgeous, lush, and well-maintained botanical garden we saw in our visit to 15 different Caribbean countries. Off the beaten track, the gardens were privately started by a British couple in the early 20th century and later put in trust to Barbados. One caveat: because many plants were not identified with labels and (even if they were),... More

Thank you for your review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your visit. Another visitor described it as 'surely one of the world's best botanic gardens'! Just a couple of clarifications. It was started in 1954 by Iris Bannochie, a Barbadian, not a Brit. It was her private garden and she bequeathed it to the Barbados National Trust in 1988.... More

Garden has three tours each of a different length. I would suggest thr one hour walking tour (about 1.5km). and do pick up the guide sheets. Listen to the introduction as it explains the history behind the garden. The garden is well maintained, well laid out and much of the lush vegatation is well marked with placards. I evjoyed seeing... Thank you for your review. Andromeda is one of the world's best gardens, created as a private retreat by the visionary Iris Bannochie. It is a very important part of our heritage and I am pleased you enjoyed the introduction which provides much needed context. Andromeda is the original garden of Barbados and has the greatest variety of plants -... More

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon strolling in the beautiful, well thought out botanic gardens of Andromeda. The gardens are maintained to a high standard and there is plenty to see on the many different pathways.

We have been many times to Bathsheba but this was the first trip round Andromeda. We were very impressed. We took Harrys walk and it took about an hour to complete. The girls on reception were very knowledgeable and helpful. The gardens are beautifully maintained and a real pleasure to visit.

Be warned on the drive to the Gardens you may think you are lost or the roads appear horrible shape, But you are on the right path to a garden oasis, great little overlook cafe. quiet. very well maintained, and great way to chill and enjoy your time in Barbados

There are many ups and downs to visit this garden so I advise to go there early. But it is beautiful and peaceful and well worth a visit.

Thank you for your review. Beautiful and peaceful indeed! Getting here early is good but so is getting here later, say 4pm. The light is lovely and there tends to be more wildlife during those times. Thanks again. Regards Sharon. More

Unfortunately we visited these lovely gardens on a tour, and only had limited time, so could not explore more than a small part of what is available. Go here to spend at least half a day, to just wander leisurely.

The gardens were amazing, we took a tour from our Royal Caribbean Cruise and Freddie was very informative. The plethora of trees and plants was amazing.
