About
Cable Beach is a Caribbean haven; expect sensational ocean views, glimmering waters, and postcard-worthy landscapes. You can spend hours here stretched out sunbathing, or try water activities like jet-skiing, parasailing, and banana boat rides. After sundown, pop by the beachside bars to sample some of Nassau’s local craft beer.
Stretching for miles, the beach is lined with some of the best resorts, restaurants and bars in town, making it a favorite with both travelers and locals. Cable Beach is amazing throughout the year but the dry winter season is especially popular for the cooler weather and easterly winds.

- DGrigsDenver, Colorado207 contributionsThe water is beautiful- but most of the sand is still goneWe booked our Airbnb on Cable Beach thinking we’d be able to walk for a mile up and down the beach. We were so saddened to see that most of the sand was taken during the last tropical storm (Nicole) in November. Locals say the sand always comes back, but I believe that will take some time. Beautiful water, but miss the sand. You can however find beautiful sand in front of the BahaMar Resort and Breezes which is next to Goodman’s Bay- but watch your personal items while at Goodmans…Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 January 2023
- Jurelie JLas Vegas, Nevada7 contributionsNice beachNice beach. When I visited this beach there were a lot of people, which I didn't like so much. If you want a chair you will have to be early in the morning, but still had a great time. I wouldn't give this beach a 5 star review because of the fact that it's to crowded and I couldn't get a chair.Visited January 2023Written 8 January 2023
- Ernest J22 contributionsBeautiful views, prepare to be harrassedCable Beach is a beautiful beach to walk along, as well as the view of the water, and if you want to watch the water sports happening. The water is also very refreshing to take a dip in. My only issue is that you can't go far or be on the beach for very long without someone bugging you to buy or pay for something. Unless it's later in the day or evening, someone is out there trying to get money off you.Visited December 2022Written 17 January 2023
- HudsonmccrawVirginia Beach, Virginia2,672 contributionsA nice beach in NassauThis is a nice beach, and worth coming there for. It wasn't crowded at all, and it allowed us to have some good down time for straight up relaxation. There are a few concession stands for food and drink, and they have restrooms nearby. There are a few hotels along Cable Beach, so those visiting Nassau not by cruise ship might consider staying there to enjoy the proximity of this solidly good beach. We wished that we could've stayed there a bit longer.Visited March 2023Written 19 March 2023
- tneum72 contributionsCan be chill if you are in the right spotCable beach is pretty and if you set up East of the Breezes hotel you will feel a more chill vibe. When you arrive you will be bombarded with Umbrella and chair vendors as well as jet ski rentals and such. But after that they left us completely alone. We did get an umbrella because you need one in the summer for sure but outside of that the pressure was low and we just chilled. Also the guy at the food stand making wings and fries is a good value and the fries were excellent. A few of us snorkeled around and saw almost nothing. I think with all the activity of boats and such that the fish are elsewhere. But we did walk down in front of the Baha Mar and the snorkeling is better over there. People kept saying there were turtles out there but we didn't see them and we covered the whole area. All in all we really enjoyed ourselves. A word of warning as well. You will find guys that want to charge you to take you out to an island to see dolphins, turtles and fish. We got the skinny from a local and we chose not to go because the dolphins are literally in a cage and same with the turtles and you do get to snorkel but only with the fish. So if you disagree with captivity like we do you may want to bypass this activity as well.Visited June 2023Written 26 June 2023

We took a cab from the port for about $10/pp and got there in about 20 min. We were approached by some locals to get chairs and umbrellas. We rented two chairs and an umbrella for $40 for the entire day. My husband found a drink stand where he got three drinks in a cantelope for $30. The beach is clean and beautiful. The water is SO warm and clear. We saw some fish and overall had a very relaxing beach day. We loved the whole island and highly recommend getting off the ship to explore!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 August 2023

Want to make your trip really memorable? Walk along Cable Beach to meet Bahamians like Anthony Poitier (yes, he’s related) who runs a pop-up Conch Shell sand-stand on the beach just past Breezes (check-out the picture), and his grandson who runs authentic boat tours off the beach further down away from the resorts. People like these make the destination special. Here’s to you Anthony!

Took a sketchy cab ride there. The beach was nice but honestly didnt feel comfortable. There was a little makeshift drink stand that was kind of expensive and dirty looking. The beach is nice but most are on tropical islands. I wont be back and cant reccomend it.

My husband and I went to Cable Beach for our honeymoon/vacation and it was the BEST experience in our lives. The condo we stayed at was beautiful right on the beach. We met awesome people one in particular who showed us around the island and set up various activities for us to do while there was Theo Cleare. Theo made this experience even better because we have never been to the Bahamas so when we met him he made us feel very comfortable and welcomed and this meant alot to my husband and I. Being treated so kind is super important especially when we travel because it says alot about the person and place. I strongly recommend going to Nassau Bahamas. We will be back very soon.

When you think of the Bahamas you think golden sands and clear seas…and there is some of that here on cable but then you turn around and there is the sun beds and the jet skis and loud music. This is fine if that’s what you want but 5 hours of the same banging music is OTT.
There is some peace a bit further along with some facilities but the big hotels have the monopoly unfortunately

Thanks so much for the review- were you on a cruise and if so, how did you get to this beach? I'm celebrating my wife's 50th in 2 weeks and looking for something besides the poorly reviewed Blue Lagoon. Thanks

Not a cruise. We were staying on island. Taxi is simple way to get around
How do you access the free public section of Cable beach? I am aware of bus #10 but could you please provide specific directions from there. Thanks a lot for your help!

If the wind is calm, floating on a pool float is AWESOME! We brought in inflatable pool float and used it everyday for relaxing and as a "base" for snorkeling. cheers

I haven't been to Cable Beach lately, but I'm sure there are taxis at the hotels there which can return you to the port.

Hi! Is there Snorkeling off the shore at Cable Beach (where you don't have to take a boat to)? Are there any reefs fairly close to shore - or enough fish/sealife to see?
Also, is the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar close to this beach? It's listed as an area hotel. Thanks!!!

Yes, right off the Melia Property are two reefs - we saw many species of fish! The swim was easy enough when the water was calm from the beach,
We (a group of 8 people) are planning to go to Cable beach via #10 jitney bus. I know I could take the bus from a bus stop across from the straw market. How much is the fare and do they take US$ on the bus? Also as far as return, where is the bus stop located at Cable beach? Does Cable beach offer public restrooms? Is there a public access point at Cable beach and where? Thanks in advance for any reply.

$1.25/adult, $1/student one way. Where they drop off there are public bathrooms, foot shower. To return take the bus on the other side of the road from where you were dropped off. Ask the driver. They’re all so friendly! Enjoy!

How much is it to rent a chair and umbrella at Cable beach ?

Most of the beach chairs on Cable beach belong to the hotels. Sometimes locals will rent you a lounger. The sand is very soft so I wouldn’t bother
