There were so many employees on the grounds, and no one seemed to be doing anything - while there was much to be done. There was trash on the grounds, path areas to be cleared. Why no signage? Why no history/info? When I did ask the park 'manager' questions, his only answer was "no one really knows" which didn't impress... More

This is an 11 acre garden on the east end of the island. There is a $10 admission fee. The retreat has a friendly staff and has well laid out paths and open areas. It really is a an example of a jungle of palm trees and sinkholes. They have cultivated many examples of palm trees from around the world.... More

If you are interested in properties managed by the Bahamas National Trust we strongly suggest you start at the Retreat and get information there first. Staff are very helpful. The tourist literature and maps for New Providence and Nassau list a number of areas for bird watching and nature walks. We tried to visit some of these. Note that with... More

As a gardener, this place was lovely. The photos posted by another reviewer are consistent with our trip. It was a lovely escape from the shopping, pools and crowds.

This lovely garden is beautifully laid out with many paths through the small forests and lawns. We were there just after the hurricane but the many staff were working hard to get it back to its pristine condition. UK National Trust card holders have free admittance.

Found by using a taxi. Free entery to NP members, we paid $10 each. The map was helpful but did not cover all the plants numbered on the tour. No wildlife seen at all. May be more interesting at other times of the year.

The best place for hosting a function. Centrally located. The grounds are well kept, and easily accessible.

First some tips on locating the Retreat. If you don't have an Avis map of Nassau, get one. Its marked. All you need to do is take any bus (we used the #7) that goes on Village Rd and tell the driver to let you off at the Retreat. They should know. If not, ask for QUEENS COLLEGE . The... More
