I knew I wanted to stop here on a port day in St. Thomas. The view is as breathtaking as I had expected. Yes, it's a bit touristy, but that was okay with me. There is a nice selection of clothing and souvenirs. My friends enjoyed banana daiquiris, but I passed as I'm not a fan of bananas. The trip to get to Mountain Top is a bit harrowing in spots, but as I wasn't driving, I wasn't too worried.

At 1500 feet, Mountain Top is located on the highest point of St. Thomas. Here in one location, there is a large souvenir shop (the USVI offers duty-free shopping) and an expansive observation deck overlooking Magens Bay, St. John, and the British Virgin Islands. Drink in the stunning panoramic views as you sip Mountain Top’s world-famous Banana Daiquiri. We had previously visited Mountain Top in 2014 and wanted to return to see if the view was as spectacular as we remembered (it was!). By the way, driving on St. Thomas is not for the faint of heart (think steep, narrow roads with hairpin curves). Go slow and stay left! The locals will honk once if you have the right of way. If they lay on the horn, you can be assured you didn’t. Stop at Drake’s Seat on your way to Mountain Top for another view of Megans Bay. Make sure you bring your beach gear. After viewing Megans Bay from a distance, we couldn’t wait to get our toes in the sand.

We drove to this location high on St Thomas after reading it was the original home of the banana daiquiri. We were anticipating and looking forward to an authentic Caribbean style bar. What this is is an absolutely gigantic tee shirt shop with a bar (that has no seats) at the back of the store where you can order an extremely forgettable drink in a plastic cup. All I could think was that this is a place that cruise ships offer paid excursions to for inexperienced travelers. Oh and there are animatronic talking pirates out front too which makes the experience feel even more like some sad tee shirt store on International Drive in Orlando.

Spectacular Views. Nice store with a large variety of souvenirs and clothing. They have a bar too, which my family liked.

Beautiful views from the Mountain Top but it was SUPER windy. The view requires you to walk through a warehouse full of typical touristy souvenirs. The road up is super windy as bumpy and barely bigger then one-lane traffic. It’s a check in the box to see but nothing I would do more then once.
