Nice but beware
Feb 2020 • Couples
Nice but beware. We were dropped off via taxi at the stretch with the rusty ship just off the shore. Chairs were rented by a local for $20. I think the taxi driver and the beach person had a deal going.

Quiet Beach, turquoise water.
Feb 2020
Stopped at Grand Turk on our cruise. It is such a stunning location. The cruise ship stops right at the beach so no transfers needed. There is a purpose built cruise terminal which houses a duty free shop. There is also a purpose built swimming pool with sun beds for the cruise passengers along with a flo-rider. (charges apply). Bars & shops in the area include Margaritaville, Starbucks, Ron Juan Surf Shack to name a few. Some of the sun beds are free for cruise passengers, but its not clear which ones they are or where.
The beach nearest the ship is the most crowded, so we decided to walk up to Governor's Beach. Its a 20/30 min walk and this is where the Mega One Triton Shipwreck is. You cant walk all the way up the beach to it. We walked up the beach as far as Jack's Shack, turned right up the side of it, and carry on walking until you reach the road. Turn left onto the road and follow it until you see a sign pointing to Governor's Beach. We got to the beach around 8.30am and had it to ourselves for about an hour. There are toilets here. There are also plenty of trees on the beach for shade.
Around 10am a guy turned up with a load of sun beds and umbrellas if you wanted. A local person also set up a make-shift bar selling beers, soft drinks and crisps. Even as the morning progressed, the beach remained very quiet.
Next to the shipwreck was a rocky area in the sea and these 2 places were excellent for snorkelling. The sand was white and soft and the water turquoise crystal clear. Whilst snorkelling we saw a turtle, and plenty of colourful fish. This beach is what you imagine a Caribbean beach should be!

Lovely beach but ruined by rusting hulk and thumping music
Feb 2020
This is truly a magnificent beach, the large rusting hulk spoils the beach along with the loud thumping music from nearby beach bar

Beautiful Blue Water and White Sand Beach
Jan 2020
Like many of the beaches on Grand Turk it is white sand beaches and beautiful blue water. Have been a few times including when the cruise ship was in and when it was not. If the cruise ship is not in you have the beach mostly to yourself. That also means no food or drinks available. Bathrooms and outdoor showers are there. Bathrooms locked when ship not in. I did not try the showers but imagine the water is turned off as water is a pricey commodity.

When the ship is in people set up selling drinks not sure about food. They also have lawn chairs to rent. Was also pleasantly surprised that it was not that busy but that could have been due to only one ship at port and it was smaller for cruise ships.

Would recommend driving or bicycle from town as it’s a bit of a jaunt. Saw people snorkelling but did not try it here.

Gorgeous!

Absolutely beautiful calm beach. Powder soft white sand and clear turquoise water. Very few people on the beach and a short walk takes you to an area with literally no one there.

Nice beach day
Dec 2019
We were interested in seeing the ship and not being crowded in with the other cruisers. We walked straight there from the ship and were the only tourists there for a couple hours. We rented a couple loungers under a shade canopy and had WiFi access for $25. I didn’t bother to negotiate. There was a friendly dog that hung out next to us for the day and we saw a donkey come by and snatch some food someone left unattended. My husband enjoyed chatting with a local kid that was there snorkeling.

More people came as the day went on. You can go to the right, away from the ship, and find shady spots. I just bought a pop for $2 but there were various snacks to choose from. I saw people with styrofoam takeout containers so there must have been food close by.

Regarding some of the negative reviews, I am sure there are better beaches and we will look into them next time but this was (for us) a easy walk from the ship. We didn’t see anyone else walking there. We did pick up some trash on the walk. The snorkeling wasn’t good but we were happy to just be in the water. There were a couple vendors but they were friendly and not aggressive or bothersome. There was some glass in one area. After talking to others on the ship who stayed at the cruise center we were even more glad we went there.

Tranquility

Governor’s Beach is stunning! Beautiful white sand and varying shades of blue/turquoise water. This little cove of paradise is my favorite beach. Each day I wake up on my “Turk-cation” looking forward to seeing the beauty that waits me at the end of my lengthy walk. Currently, the beach is officially closed. However, utilizing your two feet to embark the short walk down from the Grand Turk Cruise Terminal, will land you in this picturesque place. Truly amazing!

Short walk along the shore from the cruise ships
Dec 2019 • Couples
My husband went diving in this area (Grand Turk diving). You can walk to this beach from the cruise port. If you turn left off the pier and walk a short distant past all the sunbeds you are there. If you find my husbands wedding ring (yes it fell off when he was diving) please let me know! Its inscribed so I can confirm it's his. Nice beach but only spent time snorkelling to find a ring!
