We had such a great time at this beach. Although it is a public beach, it wasn't crowded. The water was clear and cool. The waves were a little rocky the day we were there but nothing we couldn't handle. Richards is a MUST for the bake & shark!

A large crescent shaped bay. Wide beach with fine sand. We went on a weekday. Once you leave the traffic of Port of Spain, it is a quick drive. Apparently this is not the case on weekends when a lot of city dwellers head over for the beach as well. Coconut palms provide some shade. Its a clean beach, manned... More

Once you go to Maracas in the morning earlier than 10 am you are guaranteed to get a parking space with ease and a good seated place on the beach. As times passes you will notice more and more people coming and will wither rent the chairs and umbrellas provided or bring their own accessories. The guys organising the chairs... More

Flooding, destruction of mangroves. Good shark and bake at Sams. Sandy beach. Parties, esp Ash Wednesday.

After a bit of snake like driving, you come upon the rest stop usually filled with delicacies, then you take a look at one of the wonders of the world.

When you visit Maracas Bay... make sure you get a taste of the Bake n Shark meals!!! The beach is not of the best to bathe ... the surfing is great! When returning from this site, be prepared for the snailing dragging long lines of traffic on afternoons through Santa Cruz Plz remember to use the parking facilities ... Use... More

OK, I'm VERY biased as an Australian used to golden sandy beaches, but the food stalls on the other side of the road, the incomplete development of huts right on the beach itself, and the uneven surfaces of the road in between made it somewhat depressing. However the surf itself was great, the water wonderful and the high hills and... More
