It was a nice surprise when I visited the market square. They had everything I needed and more and the people were so friendly and willing to give you a bargain. I took my time visiting every stall. I just love this place.

Expected something vibrant to give us a feeling of local life. Well maybe this is the true local life but it felt shabby, tatty and unwelcoming with nothing attracting us to buy or return.

I personally would not recommend it as a tourist attraction. It is very crowded and though it may not have been physically dirty, it gave me the impression of being very dirty. However, if you want fair priced produce and an inexpensive local lunch and local fruit juices, have a walk through. Prices can be negotiated also (not by much).

Wonderful! So much to see and learn. Vendors very friendly and happy to explain names of fruits and vegetables and how they prepare them! A great experience not to be missed! Buy sorrell, ginger and anise and make the drink, it is very tasty. boil, strain, add sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg.

We know St Vincent well and are always amazed at the state of the road leading from the port. St Vincent is a beautiful island but most people dont see beyond the town which really needs much work if it hopes to entice international visitors. We visited the 9 mornings event which is great and stayed the night in Kingstown.... More

After reading the other reviews I can't believe we are talking about the same place. We disembarked the cruise ship and walked into the town and within thirty minutes had been offered Heroin, crystal meth, cocaine and cannabis! We were a group of young couples and perhaps they wrongly presume young brits are interested in drugs! When been offered the... More

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Saturday is local market day mainly for the locals. Kingston not geared up for tourists.

The central market building in Kingstown meant to house the vendors has been much of a waste of money. The majority are on the first floor (there are 3 floors) or on the outside of the building, choking the roadways. Make shift carts and vendors cover the area, making it somewhat difficult to maneuver through the area. The fish market... More

Not much to see here I'm afraid. Busy, cramped and you can see the poverty. It does give you a feel for local culture, but there's not much of it. Get out and see the island / islands if you can.

We arrived early from a cruise ship to see the town gearing up for the days business. there is a thriving fish market, as well as fruit and vegetable sellers everywhere. This is not a pretty town with no concessions too tourists but that is part of its attraction
