The beach is pretty. It is clean and the view is gorgeous. But the water is cloudy, not much to see if you snorkel and we were told there were urchins and jellyfish.

We weren't sure what to expect from South Friars Beach after reading a few mixed reviews, but we ended up really enjoying our visit there. We took a taxi directly from the cruise port and stopped at the top of Timothy Hill along the way....More

The beach is not huge, but is beautiful. Carambola anchors one end and Shipwreck Bar anchors the other end. Both are fairly large properties with lots of people. There are several other small, quaint establishments that are much quieter on the beach between them. The...More

It had been two years since we had last been to St. Kitts and the wonderfully quiet and clean Friars Bay and were so looking forward to revisiting. We disembarked from the cruise ship and were met by the usual band of taxi drivers. I...More

The beach near the Shipwreck Bar was volcanic ash and was black mixed with sand. Very narrow beach, chairs hard to find and rocky water was cloudy . I would walk further down and there appeared to be a much wider beach with a restaurant...More

No real beach to speak of- extremely narrow and not soft sand. We ended up leaving to Cockleshell instead. Looked like snorkeling would be decent. Restrooms were little more than outhouses. Not an appealing beach. Best thing here were the wild monkeys - all over...More

If you are coming into the island from a cruise, have the Cab driver take you to South Friars and go to Discovery Beach Bar for beach chairs, drinks and amazing food!

The views from this beach are great. We were dropped off at the Carambola beach club which had nice facilities and an excellent view of the mountains at the other end of the beach. There was more seaweed than I prefer but the water was...More

Most people swim near the Carambola Beach Club. I think the beach may be a little nicer on that end. It is a nice easy 5 minute walk to Shipwreck Bar & Grill along the beach.
