Peters Cave

Really interesting history with the Hurricane of 1923 and how people used the cave to survive. Quite a hike.

As you enter Spot Bay look for Peter's dr. a small one lane drive. Drive to the end of the road and you will see the steps to start your climb. Bring water, camera and good shoes it is close to a 150 foot climb. The cave has a small entrance but is pretty roomy once inside. The residents last... More

The BEST cave because of it's gorgeous sea view. If you only have time for one cave, make it Peter's. Follow the signs to the lighthouse, turn L on Peter's Rd and it dead ends at the short pathway to the cave. At entrance, there is a short rocky descent with a handrail and then a shirt flight of stairs... More

This cave was fairly large, but not that tall in height so you had to scramble to see the caverns. It was surprisingly warm inside. Very interesting.

This cave is at the top of a trail that was once used as a cattle trail. It is hard to believe that cattle actually climbed the steep trail up to the cave. The views of the island are great from here and the cave is pretty interesting if you are brave enough to enter. It appears to be a... More

This is a nice cave with easy access from Lighthouse Road. Bring a flashlight to explore! Interest history. A good stop to explore the area!

We got to the cave by climbing down the stairs from our parked car and had an island tour guide explain the history of the cave and show it's features. First, realize that accessing this way does require climbing down and back up some relatively steep squared boulders that are basically stairs. It's a great view of the town from... More

This is where the locals took refuge during the 1932 hurricane. We got there by climbing the "steps" to the whitehouse on the east end of the island. It is a trecherous hike - be sure to NOT wear flip flops!!
