Owen island is a small deserted island in South Hole Sound near Southern Cross Fishing and Dive Resort. It does take a small amount of effort to kayak there but I think its worth it. Walk out onto the south west point and you'll likely see many brittle stars and conch. The water surrounding the island is sky blue and... More

Owen Island can only be accessed by hiring a kayak from a nearby resort, or maybe swimming - we've done both. The beach is absolutely stunning and all the way across from the mainland of Little Cayman the sea is crystal clear, and very conducive for swimming when calm. This is a small island with a nice beach area and calm water. It was located across from Head O'Bay and we took a small boat over, walking might be possible at low tide? Spent the afternoon sitting on the beach, very nice. Love the sign: "private property----visitors welcome"!

While my wife and I were at Southern Cross Club, we used one of their kayaks and went over to Owen Island for an afternoon. After spending some time beach combing, we went swimming on their quiet and beautiful beach. We had a wonderful afternoon together.

Getting to Owen island requires brute strength against wind and current which pushes against your kayak getting there- recommend speed boat or being accompanied by strong Olympic medal kayak person!! Let people know when you head there- do not go alone, the water is clear getting there and you will see large sting rays swimming along- the sand around the... More

current is hard to paddle out to the island, but a breeze to paddle back to the main island. Bring what you need, because no serrices are provided.

Bonefished with Chris Gough - VERY GOOD! Lots of turtle and stingray sightings a bonus. Did this as an alternative to diving.

It's a lot of fun to kayak or paddle board over to Owen Island. Great place for a picnic, swim or snorkel.
