SMB is basically just a row of large corporate chain hotels serving samey so-so food and drink on sun loungers that take up the whole beach. It’s very, very American and bit dystopian. If you like Miami Beach, then this is similar, although not sure why you wouldn’t just go to Miami Beach as it’s significantly cheaper there and you’ll get basically the same food and drink, at identical hotels, on a similar beach. SMB is very close to Mount Trashmore, so you often get the toxic air and stench from there, especially if you’re south of Governor’s Beach. The good thing about SMB is it’s west facing, so you don’t get as much sargassum and plastic pollution washing up, which is a real blight on the rest of the island. Caymanians are generally big litterers, so Public Beach gets really gross, but the hotels send out men with bin bags to tidy up around their own sun loungers - so that’s their only real saving grace. It’s a really hard beach to enjoy without paying a multinational hotel chain for a lounger, because there’s no independent bars or restaurants left really, and the big brand hotels have taken up most the best spots anyway. Seven Mile beach is beautiful and serene. It's not at all crowded. All of the beaches, even the ones as fancy hotels, have public access, yet we only saw a handful of locals each day. It's perfect for couples wanting to be alone or friends wanting to enjoy one another's company.

We have been to many beaches in our life and without a doubt Seven Mile Beach is the best by far. Turquoise water that can be seen for miles, clean soft sifted sand, and the water was perfect to go into. If you havent been to SMB then you are truly missing out. Cayman Islands itself is beautiful, but the SMB is just the icing on the cake. …
