Plenty of canons and foundations from colonial era gun batteries. Marker plates explain the significance of each structure in the fort. Honestly, the area is not well maintained, but the view of the bay is remarkable.

It is up a humongous hill from Divi resort but once you make the climb the breeze and the view are wonderful. There is a small archeological remains of a hospital / home and a house for the fort, and people have left their remnants behind. There are several cannons the look out to the sea. Honestly, it was worth... More

To get here you can ask to park at the adjacent resort and walk up through the resort up the hill to what remains of the fort: 10 or so cannons, a few walls, and a few plaques. Stop by for the view if you have 3 minutes to kill.

Visited on a day visit from our cruise ship. Walked up to the fort ,what a view. On the way back down we saw a massive lizard. The area was very clean and well looked after. Taxi drives very friendly .

My family walked up to this fort to look around and enjoy the view. This is probably the best place on the island to watch the sunset. Even all the cruise ships seemed to position just below us for the view right after they left the dock.

We enjoyed the scenic ride up to Fort Amsterdam and the beautiful views of the island from the Fort. If you are a history buff, you will definitely enjoy this stop.

Interesting archeological site, at the tip of the Divi peninsula. A few displays and some great views of Saba, St. Bart's, and others on a clear day. It was at the battle to take this fort that Peter Stuyvesant lost his leg.

Fort Amsterdam is of great historic value for Sint Maarten. This is the place where peter Stuyvesant battled the spanish troups in 1644 and lost his leg to a canonball, they lost the battle after loosing hundreds of man, in 1648 the spanish sailed away by themself , no longer interested in the island. There are still quite some remnants... More
