This is not your zoo in the States. If you are looking for large bells and whistles, this is not the zoo for you. This is a local, smaller zoo, that gives you a taste of the local wildlife on St. Maarten. We went on an over-cast day and spent an hour or so milling around the grounds. For a... More

Upon arrival I was sceptical because the taxi driver did not sell us the zoo well. But as soon as we got in with our generous bag of animal feed for $2 we had the best time! You can get very up close and personal with almost every animal, I even shook hands with 3 different species of monkeys! The... More

Upon arrival to the zoo, we were met by the new owner, who filled us in on the zoo. The gentlemen could not have been nicer to my family. My young children entered the zoo wide eyed and full of excitement. They really loved the ability to get up close with the animals. The staff was very gracious and informative... More

We were first encountered by a very hospitable owner of the zoo. He made sure we were well informed about the zoo and its amenities. We were informed of what types of animals were presently being housed within the premises. The cost was sufficient. We couldn't have picked a better place for leisure morning enjoyment. The place was easy to... More

This small zoo is owned a local person who bought it when it was destined to close. He has invested his own time and money to make a go of it. The selection of animals is small but they are all interesting and it is an enjoyable visit. They are improving it all the time but will not achieve this... More

This is a must stop and see tour. The family that runs the zoo are great and care/loving for the animals. You would not be disappointed. The animals love the interaction with people. They even have a pool if you want to go swimming if you have time. Learn some of the history about this zoo while you are on... More

We have visited St Maarten Zoo many times in the past and have to say the new owner has done wonderful things with the place! Please do not expect a traditional Zoo if you visit. It is a sanctuary for animals that need to be cared for and they are cared for passionately by the owner, his family and the... More

Small and friendly zoo. Great for kids since they let you feed crackers to the animals. Don't expect a classic zoo with lions, tigers and bears, but a more local version where it is apparent that the owner means the best for the animals. All in all a great way to spend your time if you manage your expectations. There... More

We decided to take the day off from lying on the beach, happily we did some sightseeing and visited the zoo was a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so enjoyed chatting with the new owner and seeing all the animals and birds and crawly things and some that inhabit the island,as we ran across some walking from friar...
