Pigeon island is calm and very pretty. Reasonable entrance fee US$7 and can be reached by A1 bus from Rodney bay, just ask the driver to take you off route for extra US$6. Walk back to main road for bus back or along the beach. There are well mapped walks around the island and 2 quiet beaches. The walk to top of Fort Rodney not too bad but more of a strenuous climb to the higher peak. The views are amazing though. The Jambe de bois restaurant is lovely, good food and quirky furniture. Good to sit and relax and enjoy your surroundings.

We were at the Sandals Grand which is right next door. I think the entrance fee was $4 US. and they sell maps for $5 but you wont need it. There are plaques at each ruin and signs pointing to the top platform. There is also a place to eat but we did not go in. If you enjoy historic ruins this is a neat place. I made it to the main platform on top and the views were wonderful. You can also hike to the top of the hill on the other side, which is even higher. My husband did that hick and I waited in the shade for him He told me it was like a oven, but enjoyed it (he's a energizer bunny) .

Beautiful! Gorgeous! And access to a quiet, white powdery sand beach overlooking sapphire blue waters. There is a small admission fee to get in the park. There is even a small rstaurant/bar inside the museum. The walk around this old fort is interesting. There are small markers where you can learn about its history but there is very little left of this fortress. It has not been well preserved. The climb to the highest point of the fort is steep. Watch your steps! Good cardio though. But once up there, you will be rewarded with a view of Reduit beach in the east and the Sandals resort just ahead, and a peek at Martinique. A definite stop when you are in St Lucia.

The interpretive center was closed for renovation so there wasn't a lot to see. Hiked to the lookout and it had nice views. Saw a few cannons and old walls and that's about it. Went down to the beach and hung out after the cruise ship people left and it was great timing and relaxing.
