Definitely bring your walking shoes.

Loved the history I walked around that fort for almost 3 hours and then realized I had only see maybe half of it. Being on a time limit we had to cut our tour short...lol

I approached this from all angles and you cannot actually enter. It's gated. If you are adventurous and approach it from Paseo Caribe you can climb on top of the side and walk in that way. However since it is gated and locked, it's probably not safe to do that.

Fortin de San Geronimo del Boqueron is operated by the U.S. Park Service. It's partially closed to the public due to restoration. The park is a historical and beautiful place but we were unable to visit the inside.

A must see. So much history and amazing views. There are so much space to cover, from where the soldiers slept, where they went to chapel and overall how they lived. You can also see where they had the cannons placed to protect themselves from approaching ships.

Old small fort undergoing renovations at the moment. It is hidden by the Caribe Hilton facilities. Not much to see.

Both forts are excellent. This one is a little smaller and easier to imagine the activities of olde and uses of space. This fort closes at 5, the other at 6 if you are trying to buy time.

We could see this from the balcony of the Hilton Caribe hotel room, small well maintained fort at the entrance to the Condado Lagoon.

Absolutely a must see when in Old San Juan. 5 bucks gets you admission into both forts and you just have to experience it. The views overlooking the Atlantic ocean and the bay of Puerto Rico are amazing. The whole place is interesting and you will get the best pictures of your life.
