The grounds are well kept and you can have a peaceful walk and view a building with a lot of history. It was obviously a wonderful home for the family with beautiful views of the water and San Juan.

This was the first fortification in San Juan and home for Juan Ponce De Leon. Interesting architecture and some furnishings along with stories about how the structure was used and modified since the 1500s

Built for the conquistador, Ponce de Leon, this was the first fortification in San Juan. It's now a museum, but I feel more could have been made of it, though at $3 entrance fee it's very good value for money. Whilst here, we watched a...More

First, you should literally go just for the breeze and views. You can see the governors mansion, and old San Juan from above. Admission was $3.00 which I thought was a steal. This home is huge. You can see period pieces and information of the...More

The site is open and free to visit. The grounds however are in horrible shape- not sure how much is neglect/lack of funds and how much is due to last summer’s hurricanes. The gardens are barren (unlike the surrounding area) and all of the fountains...More

If you like history, you will enjoy the house that Ponce de Keon ordered to build, but never lived it since he died in Florida looking for the "fountain of youth". This house stayed in the family for hundreds of years. Very interesting!

Worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood. Interesting architecture (ask about the dungeon), pretty gardens, cheap entry fee. Good views of the town, not easy to find at the end of a dead end street.

In Old San Juan, beautiful, quiet, and well kept. I believe it was only $3 admission, worth the quick stop, easily accesible by walking in Viejo San Juan. Can view all in less than an hour.
