We booked a private tour guide to take us through the countryside to Appleton Estate. When we arrived he connected us with a very informative rum tour guide and a glass of rum punch. He took the time to explain many of the artifacts displayed on the grounds as we proceeded to internal workings of the distillery. After a very... More

Informative tour. Start with a rum punch which might not be to everybody's taste. Shown how rum distilled from early times up until today. The guide we had was informative and answered all questions and advised on the different rums that are produced at end of tour sampling. Found plenty to like. Thought that perhaps the rums on sale in... More

The distillery tour itself was a little short, but the tour of the estate grounds was very good. We were welcomed with a couple of glass of Rum punch, followed by the tour of the distillery & grounds. this was followed by lunch & finally Rum tasting. We purchased a bottle of Fire Rum ($12 US) Appleton Estate Gold ($8... More

We loved the tour! The guide was really knowledgeable and went more in depth in his explanations. The tasting was really fun and it was pretty good deal for price (you get a free drink, tour, and the tastings) .

Personally, I don't like rum. However that did not stop me from finding the tour around this distillery boring. Was informative and was interesting to find out the process of making rum. The grounds of the distillery are beautiful and there's even a peacock which strolls around. The smell around the more industrial side of the grounds is off-putting but... More

The drive from Negril is quite long, and a windy road in the mountains. But the property is beautiful and we got torrential downpour for 30 minutes during the tour, which had to be paused. It's rainy season, we were fine with umbrellas. The rum was flowing from the rum punch at the beginning of the tour to the end,... More

Not much to see and very expensive tour for what it offers (well, some rum tasting is included). If you already got there and don’t want to take the tour, use the money to buy a bottle of rum, Appleton offers a large variety and choice. There is also a restaurant in the premises, and beautiful peacocks in the garden.

Tour guide made it enjoyable, complimentary rum punch at start of tour and after you get to taste a lot of different rums. Option to order food in advance to eat. Toddler was fine with walking around and exploring whilst us adults paid attention to tour!

Very organized and fun! I do not particularly like rum but my husband does...so we went. We had a decent length drive from Negril but looking at the scenery is half the fun! Tastings were great an I did discover rum cream and I like it! Take the time and the tour!
