I have come to TB for many years, although have not been in a few years. I made friends, & got to know the locals. That was the fun part for me---new experiences, super kind folks, good cheap food & pretty scenery. TB not upscale or trendy & is rather expensive, considering it costs taxi fare $150 (U.S.) one way from MBJ airport. The accommodations & guest houses are below average & overpriced. Jake's is by far the most upscale, but not cheap. All in all, I'd go back to see my acquaintances but not for the area.…

We loved staying at Katamah - Monika and Simon were so welcoming, the rooms were lovely and the location amazing. We enjoyed it so much that we changed our plans to come back. A really special place.

We love Treasure Beach and like many travelers, ever since we first started visiting years ago we returned again and again and it became our families second Home. Treasure Beach offers a gorgeous natural landscape, a friendly, caring and fun community, several beaches, delicious food and a peaceful environment. It’s really Good for off the beaten track travel and anyone looking to slow down and forget the time! We are able to explore all the best of the South Coast... seafood, safari, waterfalls, boat tours, authentic Jamaican experiences through the welcoming community tourism and beauty of this quiet village of fishermen and farmers!…

Really not sure what brings people to Treasure Beach! The beaches are awful - thin strip of grey sand, littered and unsafe for swimming. There is nowhere to walk. No 'centre'. A few scattered bars & restaurants, all serving mediocre, over-priced food. Dry, unattractive, stony scrubland. One tiny supermarket selling a few dusty tins. If you need to buy a sticking plaster forget it. Is it Jake's reputation that has brought people here? We were so dissapointed. Unless you want to sit by a pool and not venture out then avoid. Particularly avoid if you have children, there is nothing for them to do. There are 1000s of small, relaxed, hippie-vibe beaches around the world that are nicer than Treasure Beach!…

Treasure Beach is a beautiful area. It's not easily accessible by road - there ARE roads, but they are often more like cart tracks and have no sign posts to let you know you are heading in the right direction. Allow several hours to get there from either airport. But once you are there, it is glorious, and well worth the effort. Everyone is laid back and friendly, it's unpretentious, and you can relax and enjoy all that's on offer. We especially enjoyed the boat trip along the coast to Black River and up the river a little, followed by lunch at the Pelican Bar in the middle of the ocean! The sun is hot - precautions are advisable! Stay at Lashings; English owner, friendly place, beautiful views - and being up the hillside gets a little breeze occasionally! …
