Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Driving along the coast we wanted to stretch our legs and check out Sainte-Anne’s but couldn’t find a parking spot so continued on a short distance to this pleasant beach with ample parking. Room to bake in the sun or set yourself up in the shade. There were food options that we didn’t check out since we had a different destination in mind that day and plan to go back.

Beautiful sand, beautiful water, trees for shade, not so many people... What could be better?

Parking is great BUT the main lot is clay and extremely slippery. Be very careful. Park very close to the path if you can. Or better yet turn left as you come in and park down near the car field. Don't worry, they're all chained (though they sound kind of mad about it sometimes.) Fewer cars, skip the walking past all the folks and just duck through the trees on the little path and you'll find yourself closer to a perfect spot.

Guadalupe has many fine beaches and we were visiting one a day until we found this one. Then the sightseeing ended, because nothing compares. It's like Jimmy Buffett meets Gilligans Island. It's shallow and teeming with life. You can snorkel in a foot of water way out and see even by the shore colorful fish hermit crabs. The locals bring their kids and camp as it is so shallow and safe. Great colors, lots to see. Exquisite!

The beach at Bois Jolan, located 3 km east of "downtown" Sainte-Anne, is accessed via a signed roundabout on the national road and following the paved road 1.2 km until dirt road entrances. There are two main accesses to this beach, the first one being a small parking lot while the second one has a larger parking lot and follows along the beach almost to the end (we like this area best). The beach is about 1.5 km long in a very natural state which can be good and bad depending on what you want. Good because it's not as busy, untouched and natural with shallow water for swimming and palm trees for shade. Bad because, from time to time, there can be brown algae (sargasses) on the beach that hasn't been cleaned up or garbage from weekend users that hasn't been picked up. By walking along the beach, you can easily find the best spot, clean and without algae. Weekends are busy, especially with locals while week days are quieter. There are no real amenities here except a small restaurant at the second parking lot. This continues to be one of our favorite beaches in Guadeloupe.

The plage offers lots of shade and is really beautiful. We enjoyed resting there and sit under a palmtree with some good reading! Recommend it!

We loved this beach so much that we returned twice. It was one of the few beaches that had plenty of parking, lots of beach space, restaurant on the far west end, and picnic areas. This beach is very long and has lots of shade plus it is utilized by a mix of locals and tourists.

I spent a week in a gîte near the plage de Bois Jolan and really enjoyed this beach. I would walk down to the rather rocky Gros Sable beach (where you can rent a surf board and take lessons) and then take the little trail over the hill to see the beautiful stretch of Bois Jolan beach. It is a nice sandy beach with calm water that is about hip deep. It is fun just to float or play salt-water crocodiles and crawl through the water.

But- watch out for those patches of seaweed on the bottom. I gently dropped my hand down by mistake and was stung 12 times by a sea urchin. WOW! With a squeeze of lime juice the pain went away and by the next day it was all gone. Just stay on the white sandy places and you will be fine.

There are a lot of shaded areas to rest out of the hot sun with no bugs! I would pack my lunch, a bottle of water, a mat and a book and spend the day at the beach without getting sunburned. It is not crowded but there are people around. Locals bring a complete set-up with tents, chairs, BBQs and music!

It is very safe. I would leave my pack and mat for a swim or a walk down the beach with no fear that it might be gone when I returned. You can walk for several miles along the shore. At the far end of the beach there are a lot of kit-surfers. I saw a lot of locals at the beach and many families with small children.

There are no facilities on the beach. Some other beaches have food trucks and local artisans. This is more natural and wild. It is a great place to spend the day and enjoy nature.

this beach is beautiful! it is so natural and serene. there weren't many people there, and the walk along the beach was interesting, especially to find lots of little clear/white fish swimming along the shore. the low trees along the beach provide nice shade and shelter for people, and it just feels very calm, relaxed, and kind of private.
the road to the beach is a bit bumpy, like you're visiting somewhere not heavily traveled. the sand here is a bit more mixed with other material, and not as smooth as some of the other beaches. the draw is the beautiful nature and quiet. this is a special beach for sure
