We had the opportunity to have a guided tour of the distillery and then sample some of the rums available for purchase. The tour was very interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable about the process and answered all our questions. It was amazing to see that they still distill their rum using methods and equipment from long ago! It... More

This is a lovely quaint distillery. They still make it all by hand. Tour guide very knowledgeable and helpful. Free tasting of various rums was great .

If you like to learn about a local industry even if you do not like rum especially, this is a good stop. The tour is very interesting. The white rum made here is for the locals, but after sampling, you can purchase bottles to take home. The rums flavoured with chocolate or mango are good toppings to vanilla ice cream.... More

Fascinating Tour of a Rum Distillery that dates back to 1785 and still relies upon the original equipment (i.e. water wheel power) to make rum. Excellent tour that finishes with a sampling.

An over-shot waterwheel drives the cane crushing mill. The crushed grain is dried and used to fuel some of the boilers. The juice from the sugar cane is channelled across the yard to the fermentation house then piped to the distillery. It's a fascinating process and well the admission of around US$10 - it includes a tasting session as you... More

We hired a car and having read about the distillery, eventually managed to find it - not helped by the fact there are no signs to guide you inside! When we arrived, there was another party just finishing their tour so we, myself and my wife, were joined by another couple and we were greeted by our tour guide. She... More

We stopped at the rum distillery on a tour around the island. The entry was US$2 per person. We got a very informative tour of the production area, which is all done manually and with the help of a very old water wheel. They only make white rum and most of it stays on the island. The tour ended with... More

Interesting stop. See a 200 year old water wheel still in operation imported from the uk. The men are doing everything the traditional way and you can smell it as soon as you exit the taxi. The guides were friendly and helpful and we had a tasting after. Washrooms available and there was a restaurant at the entrance but we... More

Rum being made today like it was in 1785. Privately owned, this is the oldest operating water wheel distillery in the Caribbean. A must see. Guided tours are available for US $2.00 and at the end enjoy a taste of the rum plus bottles are available for purchase. I recommend the Chocolate Rum.
