We are a family owned cigar factory, store, restaurant and lounge in the Dominican Republic. We pride ourselves on only the highest quality and aim to offer our visitors a first class cigar experience in Puerto Plata. We strongly recommend using UBER Puerto Plata as the the transportation method, it is the preferred transport for Vivonte Cigars.

As a Cuban cigar aficionado who has tried much of the regular production Cuban cigars over the years as well as (my favorites BTW) the farm rolled cigars of the Fincas of Pinar del Rio , (Hector Prieto, Robaina) also the custom rolled cigars in Havana , (la China , Hamlet, Reynaldo, Alexandro etc.) I find it a rare occasion when a non Cuban cigar is as enjoyable . Thus with little expectation I checked out the boutique cigar shops/factories in Puerto Plata . The initial vibe was a hustle the tourist going on in the first couple shops visited , and poor quality cigars .
Was unimpressed until I darkened the door of the Vivonté Cigar Factory & Lounge. Met Glenn Hamilton , owner and Canadian expat. Together with his son and an experienced staff , produce what are impeccably constructed Dominican cigars with the best quality grown and cured tobaccos in the DR . Complex , smooth , enjoyable cigars. Their Puerto Plata facility has a selection of custom cigars . Sampled the #7 ,#8 and #12 custom rolls . These are comparable to the best of the big name Dominican Manufacturers IMHO. At $5-$10 a cigar each in bundles an awesome value. If your in PP drop in and spend a couple hours with Glenn , enjoy great cigars and conversation.

We discovered Vivonte cigars by accident several years ago while wandering around Puerto Plata. We made this a must stop in our latest trip to the DR. 👍 to the new location. Cigars are top notch. Super quality without the “Ashton” price points. Each box can serve as it’s own humidor. Followed owner Glen’s recommendations and couldn’t be more satisfied. Nice little bar and relaxing lounge. Carried one of my favorite single malts, Macallan. We always stay on the North Coast and would drive up to the La Aurora factory to stock up in the past. No need anymore. Vivonte rocks.

Great experience! We really enjoyed the tour and could see that Glen and his team put a lot of attention to detail in their process of cigar manufacturing. Be sure and only use Vivonte Cigar's transportation, standard taxi's will take you to other venues because they are paid commission to do so. Vivonte Cigar's smoke like other Dominican cigars that cost twice the price. Highly recommend.

What an experience!! Glen, Julio, and the entire crew were absolutely fantastic!! If you’re looking for a genuine and intimate cigar experience in Puerto Plata, this is the place to be!! Small bar, roll your own cigar, great conversation, affordable prices, and delicious smokes all in one place!! USE THEIR TRANSPORTATION SERVICE!! Many taxi services at the Amber Cove cruise port claim to be associated with Vivonté, but they’re not! Highly suggest you arrange, thru the tour, to have Jonathan pick you up!! Vivonté has great email communication and will arrange your transportation to and from Amber Cove, complete with driver info and picture, the vehicle they will be in, and pick up location!! Call them direct via the number provided on Trip Advisor. Enjoy!! You won’t be disappointed!!!

It was a lot of fun to visit this cigar factory! Glen was really knowledgeable, it was awesome learning about this family owned business. We even got to have a hands on experience rolling and testing out some very good cigars. If you’re a cigar lover or even a beginner smoker with little to no knowledge about cigars this is the place for you!

I went there to buy cigars this time . I met Glenn in 2019 and toured the factory and was introduced to a great smoking cigar " signature collection toro mediano " . As soon as I got back to the Dominican Republic I made sure I picked some of those cigars up. Make sure you see him for a tour and some great quality cigars.

Nice tour, these guys know there stogies, small organization, big impression! They thoroughly explained the cigar making process. From planting to finish product. In my opinion Dominican cigars are the best.

Great place to visit. After some confusion regarding transport Mr. Hamilton called our hotel to rearrange visit, what dedication. Mr Hamilton gave us an excellent tour of his business, was extremely knowledgable and gracious. The best words I can say are, quality, consistency and professionalism of the factory and of course the cigars. We enjoyed a light meal, I enjoyed a great cigar and returned to our hotel very satisfied. I highly recommend this busines as you will feel comfortable and welcomed. Please even if you don't smoke cigars pay a visit to this fellow Canadian, they offer a lounge for light meals and beverages. Highy recommend this business

A must stop for any causal or cigar enthusiast. Took a cab from our resort which took us to the wrong place which I’m convinced was intentional on the cabbies part. However once we arrived at Vivonte we met Austin who was just starting to unlock and open for the day. He quickly introduced himself to the six of us, sat us down in the lounge with some beers. Once opened, his staff managed the store while he took us to the workshop for a tour. Unfortunately for us it was Sunday so there was no production. So knowledgeable about the whole process from seed to smoke and I learned a few things that I wasn’t aware of. We all selected a single cigar, returned to the lounge for more great discussion about cigars, culture and being a Canadian owning a business in Puerto Plata. After some tough decisions on so many choices in the humidor we were on our way. Definitely will be back. Thanks Austin - great host.

Dear Vivonte Cigars Team,
my wife and myself are highly interested in learning more about cigars and coffee from you. Therefore we would like To know whether there is a „strict“ starting Time for the tour. ( i only can choose a date, but not a Time? )
Additionally it would be Nice To know whether you can pick us up from Amber Cove ( Cruise ship Terminal). For sure we would pay an additional Fee for the Transfer.

yes what cigar can they recommend that is a 50X6, mild to medium strength, and the price, 20 piece box.

Hi Glen! Can we take advantage of that of the offer to be picked up at the port and get a ride to your cigar store? We arrive on 01/24/17! My husband (and I) really would enjoy the cigar tour and purchasing some cigars. We will be traveling with another couple. Not sure if they would like to join us for a tour or not yet.

Hi Belinda, You just need to come to the Historical City Center. You can take call our store at 809-586-5257 and we would be pleased to pick you up at the port (just outside the main gate). It will take about 30 minutes from the time you call. Our vehicle is a black Nissan Murano. The factory tour is free. It is located on the second floor of our cigar store and lounge. We make a great breakfast as well if you're hungry ;) Please confirm the date of your arrival and we can arrange a time to pick you up. It will be a pleasure to serve you.
