Day Visit off of a Cruise Ship Cruised into Amber Cove in Feb. off the Carnival Elation. It was easy to Catch a cab to the cable car. It was around $65 + tax roundtrip. The cab driver waited for us for the 3 hours we were there. Based on reviews I had read we didn't take a tour guide from the lobby. We paid $10 each for our tickets and explored on our own. I wanted to go where I wanted and stay at each area as long as I wanted plus didn't want to feel like I had to chat with someone instead of enjoying myself and I would've had to tip him. From ticket lobby we went to the platform to catch the cable car to the top. It was a short wait as we got there early but it was crowded in the cable car. If you are claustrophobic or afraid of heights this isn't the adventure for you. lol Great views as it was a beautiful clear day. Got to the top. Maps and signs are in English so no problem reading them. We saw the statue of Christ and the gift shop is inside the base. Then we hiked to the cave and bridge and lagoon. It was beautiful. We got back to the cable car platform and thank goodness we started back a little early b/c we had to sit and wait almost 30 minutes to get on the car and head back down. Because we just had the day I had planned on being back to the port with hours to spare and even getting back to the cab a little late we got back with plenty of time to walk around and shop at the port. It was a great day!

Worthwhile trip to the top of the mountain. Beautiful scenery looking down on the city of Puerto Plata.. The friendly guides on the mountain will help you take some memorable photos with the statue of our Lord Jesus. Unfortunately due to the risk of zeika virus from the over abundance of mosquito we unable to tour the gardens.

Admission is $10 and it's a cool ride. At the top there are a number of nice photo ops, same with in the cable on the way up.

The place is really a hidden jewel!! We feel that it is very under rated!! First you take the Teleferico Cable Car up Mt. Isabel de Torres. It's a treat in itself! It costs around $10 per person round trip. You rise slowly up the mountain. You feel like a bird. It is so interesting to see the town and the beach change as you ascend the mountain. You get up there and there are so many photo stops it's unreal. You can follow the map or better yet hire someone to take you while they explain the history and vantage points! The place is very beautiful. There are many points of interest. They pose you when you first get there so it seems as though you are holding the statue of Christ in your hand. It is all just very different and pretty! A must see!
