Great architecture and stained glass. Men cannot wear hats and ladies with short skirts and shorts have to wear a wrap... Very cheap tour.

This church is a good and cool place to visit. You can enter this on Sunday or during mass for free.

I'm not particularly religious (and not Christian) but this is a great historically significant location, and even greater if you are religious and holds that value for you. Must see, especially if you're in the area (there's tons to do in the Colonial District!)

A must, historic, takes you back to the conquistadors. Mixed neighborhood, hard to park in this area

You dont need a guide just grab a taxi from Hotel and spend your day at your own convenience, its walking distance from all other historic sites of Santo Domingo. A... More

This Cathedral is very beautiful. The vaulted ceiling is very impressive. It is apparently the first Spanish Cathedral built in the new world. Very different from Cathedrals I have seen in England, or France. I had limited time, so I only spent about a half an hour here, although there was plenty to see in every corner. I was also... More

The first Cathedral built by the Spanish conquerors in the New World is mainly designed with vaulted ceiling. However the surrounding 12 chapels are very different, so the atmosphere is very eclectic. Even its original interiors were vandalized by the pirates of Drake , it is very impressive and worth visiting.

The cathedral is beautiful - nestled very discreetly in the city, almost easy to miss just driving by. If you wear shorts they will give you a wrap to cover your knees so dress modestly or be prepared to cover up. Did the on your own audio tour - mostlly really great but there were some things that were confusing... More

This is a truly remarkable piece of history made even better by a tasteful restoration and the great English audio guide. Try and avoid the cruise groups. Go 1st thing or late afternoon Do not miss
