Don't miss this beauty! It is breathtaking. Our guide told us that a cannonball is still lodged in the rafters shot into the cathedral by Francis Drake. Very interesting history.

Though not a beauty in the European Cathedral sense, it is still very impressive and at almost 500 years old, is truly historic, having some Gothic influences. Audio guides are informative and add to the visit. Well maintained - fully air conditioned for example -...More

The oldest cathedral in the Americas. The first catholic diocese established in the New World. If you ever visit Santo Domingo you have to come and see it because of its historical value and its beautiful architecture.

Yes this the first Catholic Church in all America, founded in 1512. It's very impressive and interesting, should be in better condition but our government dont take care of our most valuable and historical resources.
