My friend and I toured this site on a Sunday so we couldn't go inside. However we did get ready good photos from outside the gates and it was just cool to see where the Dominician President lived during our visit to the DR.

The National Palace is in the middle of a neighborhood which makes it very cool. It is closed and you can only walk around. There is park with a plaque for each period for each president. It shows how so few have ruled the country.

Brief stop as part of an organised tour. The building itself is spectacular however you do pass through some very poor parts of Santo Domingo on the way which means that you probably get a really good contrast between the haves and have nots. Santo...More

There were guards in ceremonial outfits and a big iron fence. You can only look from the fence, but still worth stopping to look. A young boy had a basket selling drinks.

Just a quick stop but worth just to view the building. Guide was very knowledgeable. We were provide lots of history of the building, purpose and the government.

Lovely building that was built when the country was under a dictator. But looks very impressive with guards outside, plus police officer with whistle moving or stopping traffic

It is a nice an impressive building. You can see it from your car. I saw a line of people waiting to go in, I can not comment in the interior

The National Palace and the area next to it is worth visiting. It's probably the calmest place in town, almost no cars, only police guys patrolling the area. Nice for a walk, 10-15 minutes from Zona Colonial/Parque Independencia.
