It's a very interesting museum, convenient to get to, small enough to go through in a reasonable amount of time. Entrance fee is only about US$2 for adults. An audio tour is available in various languages. I wish it had more printed information or signs.

Our tour guide took us here while we were Downtown. We also drove pass China Town and other local spots. Don't drive yourself - no normal rules.

The tour of this residence (built in 1514) was part of our walking tour of Santo Domingo. Our group was a mix of Spanish and English language speakers, so at this stop we were divided and our guide spoke English; we were given head sets...More

I felt privileged to experience the history here. Admission is about $4 US and is well worth it. My favorite part was the armor that was left behind by the Columbus family and forgotten for centuries. Do take the time to visit.

We visited Zona Colonial with several friends. The place was cleaned and we felt safe near the alcazar even though I didn't see any security / police officers around. The Alcazar was closed since we went on a holiday.

Went there as part of a tour. I found the guides very nice and with a good sense of humour. The building has been decorated with furniture from the same times to make you feel they way Colon's son used to live. If you like...More

This was just a wonderful place. The history of the Columbus family is alive and well here in the home of Diego Colon, Christopher's son. The many many artifacts that are available for view are impressive. I loved the "listen-as-you-walk" audio that provided me with...More

Is there a day/time when docents dress up in period costumes (as I read somewhere). We would like to know whether to save our visit for that time. Please only respond if you have the specific information.
