Great destination. Rough journey. We decided to walk the 2km with a guide and it is challenging to say the least. It included walking through water at 4 points and a crazy “stair workout”. If you carry anything in it’ll be that much tougher. But like I said, the destination was definitely worth it.

My boyfriend and I went for what we thought would be an exciting adventure. The breakfast we were promised was only prepackaged muffins in little bags. I was okay but it was definitely not enough to sustain my boyfriend. Next, the boat ride was a solid 45 minutes and a handful of people got boat sick although we only had one bathroom. Next we went on horseback to El Limon. They separated my boyfriend and I so we were both alone for a solid hour. The horses were incredibly malnourished and struggled to carry us along the trails.. It was really hard to see. I offered to walk because it seemed as though my horse was going to collapse, but the guide said, "no, it's just an animal." Not only did I feel terrible for the horse but I was honestly seriously afraid it was going to fall and I would be injured too. The whole thing with the horses being so malnourished and mistreated was disturbing enough not to go on the event. Then when you get to the waterfall you have to walk what felt like 1000 steps. Most of our group struggled. Then when we finally got to the waterfall there were people everywhere! It was so incredibly crowded considering that waterfall isn't that bit. Finally when the day was over I tipped my guide and he was pretty rude about it, despite it being a generous tip. Do not recommend.

If you decide to go to see the falls, please walk there. It’s like 2km walk. Horses are mistreated, very skinny and in bad conditions. Road to falls is very rocky and not easy to walk for a horse, evethought guide was whipping the horse all the time to walk faster. I felt so bad for horses. Guides also whipped other horses as passing them just for a fun. Guides told that they are not getting salary for guiding people to falls, but that’s not true. Anyway, on our way back guide started to tell us how we need to pay them and it felt quite unfomfortable in the middle of the junge. Guides also separated me and my boyfriend to ask money. When we get back and we gave some tip to guides, they just looked as like they didn’t appriciate it at all. Waterfall is amazing, but all the other was aweful. If you want to go to the falls, please walk to dont support their bad treatment with horses.

In spite of the difficult access by horses or by walk, the falls are the best of the Dominican Republic. It is important to negotiate previously the payment and tips.
