In successive exhibits, this museum documents the history of Dominica, including the native Kalinago culture, the occupations of the island by the British and French, the slave trade, and the modern Caribbean. It is right in the center of town and the exhibits are fascinating.

Only a 3$(USD) cover and one is lead upstairs to the national museum. I dont know if the fee was a discount as I visited on November 3rd, which was their independence day. There's several rooms that are made up in "period" pieces (1800's early...More

The museum is small but very informative. The building and surrounding itself holds historical significance. Entry fee is just US$3. If you enjoy learning the history of the places you visit, you won't regret a visit to the museum.

Our 8 and 11 year old children enjoyed the museum. We love Dominica and appreciated learning more about it's history. While you could burn through it quickly, it took us about an hour to review each display. Cost was $3 US per person. Very close...More

Once onshore from your ship's docking position in the capital's port, this attraction is straight in front of you. A small entry fee to see a bit of this island's history.

This historic building and it's contents are in great need of some tender loving care by a curator of museums. If such a persons could only volunteer their time and knowledge, this could be a great place!!

We enjoyed the short climb of stairs to the museum and spent just under an hour. Well worth the $3 per person fee. Lots of history from British rule to now, interesting display of the volcanic activity, and some original furniture. The poor Victor phonograph...More

For a small admission fee of $3 you can learn a significant amount about the history of Dominica. There needs to be some upkeep of the artifacts because there will be nothing left in about 5 years based on some of their current condition. It...More
