    Amazing experience
Like rowing through prehistoric Caribbean. Absolutely beautiful. Great bar at the end for some rum. Recommend going around 5-6pm as less busy, less hot and you'll get to see the contrasting views as the sun sets.

Great time with Mr. Fire at Indian River tour.
What shall I say about visiting Secret bay at Dominica. Our trip was absolutely spectacular, celebrating our 30 year anniversary. We started our visit with a tour at Indian River with Mr. Fire. He was so knowledgeable about the river. He was born and raised around the Indian River area so he provided a lot of history and gave us a great tour. We could tell that he has been doing tours for awhile. Great asset. He even made us art out of tree leaves, which I will put into a shadow box frame to always remember the time with him. Thank you so much Mr. Fire and hope to see you soon.

    It was a fantastic experience.
Everyone has a nickname in Dominca! And our guide's nickname, was Spesh. And he was special! He knows everything about birds, plants, trees, soil, the full history of the whole island. There is little that you could ask Spesh that he would not be able to answer honestly and in full. An amazing font of knowledge and an amazing guide from the Karinago tribe. His birth surname is Etienne and I can't recommend him highly enough. Spesh also made us the most beautiful origami birds from leaves as a gift after our stop off at the bar.

    Great trip with guide Lawrence
We booked the experience with Titus but then Lawrence took over the tour at the beginning of the river. Lawrence was a great guide! He told us a lot about the flora and fauna and the history of the island. He also made some palm leaf animals for our kids that they absolutely loved. I highly recommend Lawrence! The river tour itself was beautiful, we got to see humming birds, iguanas, crabs, fishes and several different birds. We went in the morning (8.30am).

Wonderful Tour up a RainForest River!
Wonderful tour up the River into a Rain Forest area- twisted trees, tropical flowers at the hidden Bar, local man rows your boat ( 8 passengers) into the dark Forest. After a 30 minute ride, you receive Rum Punch at the Bar, a bathroom nearby and GO DOWN the trail off to the right- hidden flowers galore! This trip is well worth your time and money!

    Excellent trip
Yeah, this was a terrific boat ride, very atmospheric and memorable. Slightly weird bar in the middle of the trip but we saw Calypso's house from Pirates of the Caribbean. Except it's more of a shed. Our guide was fun and informative, thanks Spesh and we took a zillion photos.

The "rowboat" we took ended up having an outboard motor to get the thing started up stream. That's fine. The problem was, after the motor conked out, the poor fellow "rowing" only had one row (more like a pole) and 8 of us in his boat. He toiled the whole way and I felt really bad for him. The scenery is very much like what we had seen on other islands, no outstanding differences. The guide was so busy trying to get us upstream he didn't narrate much. There were a couple iguanas and a couple red crabs. The Bush Bar was cute, but eh. Overall I would not do it again. It was ok.

The Indian river itself is short. The tour would take you a maximum of an hour and a half. You need to buy a sightseeing pass (around 5 USD) at the gas station next to the river, and the tour itself was around 20 USD per person. We had 4 in the boat.
There is an ATM and a bank right next to this gas station as well so you can withdraw or exchange your money for local EC dollars.

Our tour guide was Aza! Very friendly and entertaining. We also went to Syndicate Falls and Nature Trail. Highly recommend. Ask around for Paul "The Nature Boy". He will give you a great and informative tour. We were docked in Portsmouth.

Enjoy Dominica!

Exceeded expectations. Highly recommend this trip to experience the natural beauty of this wonderful island. 007 James Bond provided a knowledgeable narration which made our time especially memorable. His passion and appreciation for the river made for a fabulous experience. Thanks to Miguel at M-Vision Transportation for arranging our visit. 767-617-7806.

This is a nice guided nature trip that takes about 90 minutes. They row you upriver and explain all the birds, flora and fauna and if your lucky you can get a drink at the riverside bar at the halfway point (it was closed for us). No complaints, but given the many incredible things to do on the island this was kind of average.

This is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. We went with a guide called Azah. He was knowledgeable about the environment and we saw lots of different birds, fish and crabs, all of which he easily identified. He gave an on-going commentary about the plants and environment on the banks. We were privileged to see an iguana warming up in the morning sun - a special moment. The river was busy with other tourists, but since the boats have to be rowed by hand there was no noise or disruption. The bush bar which marks the end of the navigable stretch is fun and you are welcome to walk in their beautiful garden.

We booked on viatours.com, had a great experience with them. The local tourguide knows the Indian river area very well and has been giving tours since he was 15, his boat is also made by a local craftsman. There is always something to watch on the Indian river, we saw like 8 different bird species and several crabs and different fish.
The guide that gave us a tour by van and recommended food for us was also great and very funny. All in all a fun/ romantic and very relaxed experience!
