I have visited Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue at least eight times. My wife and I own a timeshare on Curacao and visit the island annually and we love to visit this synagogue. It dates back to 1732 and was modeled after a European Portuguese synagogue. This...More

The oldest Jewish congregation in the Western Hemisphere. The building is beautiful but the entrance fee is a little steep so we didn't go in. Pity, I would have loved to see it.

We attended services here in the past and also toured the synagogue once. Today we went to the gift shop only to pick up a few items and to help support this wonderful congregation. The sand floor is unique in my experience and really adds...More

The Synagogue is an absolute must when visiting Curacao. The museum tells the rich Jewish history of Curacao and brings it to life with the many personal items. One of the is the Leica Freedom Camera. The Leitz family saved many Jews during the war.

Apart from being the oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere to still be in continues use, the museum also offers a lot of insight into the Jewish history of curacao.

Spent about an hour here, self-guided tour of the synagogue and museum. Helpful staff in museum. You are allowed to take photos in the synagogue but not museum. Nice way to spend some time. Great exhibits and the history is fascinating.

This is a synagogue that is currently in use. They have a beautiful museum and you can hear the service from outside. I would say this is one of the jewels of the island. Just go.
