Awesome Monument

Had a quick stop here to take pictures and climb the stairs after our lunch. Nice place and important history.

We stopped here for about 15 mins on our way back from the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery as part of a half-day tour. While the Revolution Plaza is interesting with its massive statues and the turbulent history it represents, I feel that it is best viewed as part of a tour incorporating other sights. We had an excellent guide who gave... More

Statues, art and sculpture overlook the huge revolution square, not as large as Havanna's, but there are more sculptures and the statue of Antonio Maceo (hero of the war of independence). It's well worth stopping on your way to the city.

Every city in Cuba seems to have a plaza with this name but this one is pretty spectacular and hosted The Pope. 10 minutes is all you need.

Although this does celebrate heroes of several revolutions, there is no real doubt which revolution is the important one. We drove round slowly in our imperialist, capitalist yankee running-dog 1955 Chevvy Belair which afforded the opportunity to take plenty of photos and appreciate the Soviet-inspired size of the thing before continuing on our way. It is obviously an important political... More

As you can imagine, this is a must see whilst in Santiago. Take loads of pics and just take in the magnitude of this monument.

I have to say I was amazed by its size. It is huge. A very interesting place to see. We had a great tour guide who told us all about the square, so it was a very enjoyable visit. It is also very clean and very well kept.

Not enough time to do a thorough visit. They have an elevator to the top but there wasn't enough time for us to this as the lineups were big when we were there on tour. Visited 2008

A must-see in Santiago and impossible to miss. It only takes 10 minutes to stop and walk around and get a sense of the size of this memorial. Worth doing.

Not sure what else to say other than it is a plaza. You can definitely see the Russian influence in the statue.
