Beautiful Mansion
Oct 2019
It's hard to believe looking around your surroundings that this mansion is still standing, and has been turned into a museum.

If you are curious to see how life was like before 1959 this is the place to view it. I wish they had audio tours so that you could linger at your own pace, and get a detailed description of each room.

However, the next best thing is to see if you can book a guided tour.

Don't miss exploring this beautiful piece of history.

A treat for any lover of over the top grandeur
Dec 2018 • Couples
The secretaire that belonged to Marie Antoinette is a treat to treasure, so is the collection of Chinese screens on the ground floor. The main hall is a study in the Louis XV-styling replete with vases, porcelain and a rug that withstood time since 1722. No shortage of good paintings to ogle in passing. Its a swank palatial building with lovely gardens to wander through.

A hidden gem
Mar 2019 • Couples
This gorgeous grand house in Vedado, Havana is a must see. Take a guided tour if you can, our guide was excellent and gave us a wonderful lesson in Cuban history, the story of the property and its beautiful contents. Given their economic challenges this property has been really well maintained and presented. A lovely couple of hours

Beautiful, preserved mansion with an interesting history

The museum is essentially the former house of a very wealthy family that fled Cuba in 1959. A tour gives you a sense of how the uber wealthy lived, and what happened when they fled. i would recommend asking for a guide. We were fortunate enough to get the museum director. He was great!

Interesting Objects of Art
Mar 2018
The museum is not air conditioned and was a little warm when we went. You are escorted and only so many people are permitted to visit each room. The room furniture and art was varied from Oriental to Italian. Be sure to visit the grounds afterwards - it's a nice way to end the tour. It looks like some of the museum was being worked on when we visited - not sure what was going on as we didn't notice until we left.

A must see!
Oct 2017 • Friends
If you want to see how really rich Cubans lived before the Revolution, visit this beautiful former home of the Countess de Revilla. It's amazing! It's full of the most gorgeous furniture, art and collections, including a room full of fans. This was before AC so of course, women would have a collection of fans! It cost 5 CUC to enter and you will be escorted room to room, but there is not an English Tour. Gardens were such an important part of entertaining before AC and one can only imagine the parties held here. There is even an outdoor dance floor. Maybe it will even help you understand why there was a Revolution.

Very nice family mansion

We visited the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires. It is located only a block and a half from MALBA. This museum is actually a former living space for a very wealthy family. There were two floors. Entrance fee is minimal. You can freely wonder all of the living spaces of the family. We spent a delightful 90 minutes doing so and very much enjoyed the artwork, statues and other artifacts. Every room has an English translation.

Interesting and good for the price, SPANISH REQUIRED

Nice little daytime activity, especially if you are staying in Vedado. Good for the price, but you NEED TO KNOW SPANISH since the guides do not speak English.

Worth the Effort to find
Apr 2017 • Family
This was a last minute stop before we started home. How glad I am that we did. 5 cuc pp to get in and 5 more to take pictures. An English speaking guy came with admission and what a treasure of info he had. This home belonged to a Cuban born countess, married to Spanish count. She abandoned property two weeks before revolution and someone had the where with all to go batten down the hatches so that it did not fall to looters. She had an amazing collection, truly of the wealthy class. What is so overwhelming is the opportunity to get so close to these treasures. Some could so easily be destroyed with a misstep or eager fingers. I am sure they will limit the exposure within time, just hope sooner than later. Worth the effort to scouring the neighborhood to find this gem. While we were there they also had an exhibit of fans what make collecting spoons seem like a bad idea. Be careful, I have written a review of another Artes Decoratives (mistake), that is totally different. Make sure that this is the one your looking for.
