Probably the most popular of all the churches and for a reason, it's beautiful and in a good location for the tourist hordes. I come here frequently. The church was constructed by Jesuits (1748-77) on the site of another church. The two bells in the taller tower are said to have been made from gold, silver & bronze & emit... More

La Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada de La Habana is one of eleven Roman Catholic cathedrals on Cuba. Located in the Plaza de la Catedral in the center of Old Havana. The church was built in Baroque style with several Tuscan elements and is considered one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Cuba. The... More

If you are on a walking tour it is worth a quick moment to stop in this square, which is among those in Havana that have been recently renovated. Mind the street vendors offering funnels of peanuts for sale. Our group could only stay for a few moments, but it didn't look like you could go inside the church.

Go all the way to the top for great view, explore all the corridors and look at the exhibits. Staff speak some English.

Was only able to walk into the foyer, not walk up the aisles or through pews. But it is a gorgeous cathedral and totally worth seeing - and free to enter at least in the foyer.

This medium sized cathedral is a beautiful baroque church finished in 1787. It's refined rather than impressive, built by an Italian architect with excellent taste. At one point in History the cathedral contained the remains of Colombus himself.

During the entire day, no matter the time of day, the gate was locked and the inside inaccessible. There were no signs that indicated when, if at all, it was open.

The Cathedral was under construction when we were here so we didn't get to see the inside, unfortunately.

Beautiful for Havana though the inside is not particularly impressive. It's right in the middle of old Havana so it shouldn't be missed if you're there.

Take your hat off and cover your bare legs or you will not be allowed in. They allow climbing the tower (a must see) very cheap, tip the man who sells the tickets, a a very good fellow.
