There are two campuses for the Museo national de Bella Arte. The first is the Museo national de Bella Arte Cubano which focuses on cuban art and is located near the museo de la revolution. We accidentally visited the other offering - the Museo National de Bella Arte (Arte Universal) campus which is located just adjacent to the parque central. Like the name suggests this focuses on international works. I was a little disappointed as being in cuba, I wanted to see cuban art but this was totally my error.

The Arte Universal was quite interesting. There was a trivial entry fee. You aren’t able to bring bags in and need to check them in at the door. It featured a range of artwork from various parts of the world with its Egyptian and Greek sections being particularly noteworthy.

Overall I actually would recommend visiting both offerings.

The Museum of Bell Artes is housed in the most amazing building - there is a stained glass ceiling which is beyond words. The art collection is quite interesting - but the building is what blew me away.

I was very tired at this point in the itinerary so waited for my friends in the Museums coffee shop on the ground floor. The attendant made me an excellent capucchno. I also visited the gift shop which had a good selection of art books and art prints, as well as Videos/DVD's on Cuba and its history.

This is worth the price of admission. No great International art but local & some of it very inventive & innovative. We enjoyed the section which be seemed to be taking the you know what out of fidel by placing him in adverts like the Marlborough man and apples

We were walking by this building and noticed a ballet was scheduled that evening. We able to purchase 2 box seats at $30 CUC pp. Interior was stunning, orchestra was spectacular and really enjoyed the performance. You can pay for a tour to interior but if possible take in the ballet if possible.

we only visited the part of Cuba arts. most of them are works of 1930-50's. very impressed by these realistic painting which describe the life of black people in colony time. of course, and many master pieces of cubism which absolutely influenced by Picasso.

The impressive collection of the Cuban arts just next quarter from my hotel. It was really worthwhile to visit the museum. It seems that Cuba is full of artists. The collection is on two floors, but it was impossible to properly get acquianted with all works.
On the ground level there is a cafe where you could enjoys a nice glass of local specialty guave juice.
