We took a day to explore multiple beaches on the Caribbean side of the island as we were staying on the Atlantic side. This beach did not disappoint! We had trouble finding parking at Turners, was not interested in the kid float park at Darkwood and stumbled upon Ffryes. We got two chairs under an umbrella for $15 and enjoyed a few hours here. Lunch was homemade and delicious (more pricey than expected -$20 for one shrimp plate, but very satisfying for two). The sand is pristine and the turquoise water color is exactly what we were looking for. Not meant for a snorkel beach - I would go to Turners or Long Bay for that!

We loved Ffryes, probably tied with Carlisle Bay for our favourite on the island. We were there in April and shared our section with maybe two of three other groups of people. Nice shady areas provided by palms and lovely clear water. Dennis' place is great for lunch and we had a lovely lunch there. Really recommend you visit this one.

The beach here is lovely. Its a bit farther out from where the cruise ships dock. My daughter and i were thee February 3rd 2022. we had a lovely lady taking excellent care of all our drink needs on the beach. A nice gentleman took care of getting us chairs , a umbrella and WiFi so my daughter could play Pokemon go. The water is lovely. The view beautiful all you have to do is relax, and soak in the sweet island life. There are also some very lovely ladies that sell hand made jewelry, hand made cover ups all beautiful. If you visit Antigua i highly recommend you visit this beach and the lovely people who tend it.

While not my favorite beach that I visited I would go back. I happened to be there on a bit of a windy day which was less than comfortable in terms of sand blowing. The sand though is soft and lovely and the water is beautiful. I was not impressed by the restaurant and would bring my own food if I returned.

went here to watch the sunset. Beautiful beach, not crowded at all. Had parking and looked like restrooms built in across the parking lot.

One of our favourite beaches we visited during our holiday. The clearest waters and surprisingly quiet! We hired a paddle board and kayak from Cheyvone at Padenterprise and a jet-ski from a local.
Note, Ffryes was a little tricky to navigate to by car.

I have never been to Ffryes beach as part of a cruise but I am aware that some of the cruise ships organise trips there. If you want you could just get a local taxi to take you there from St John's. It is probably 20 - 30 minutes drive depending on traffic. You can rent your own sun bed and have lunch at Denis Cocktail Bar and Restaurant on the beach. You should have no problem getting a taxi back to the ship.

Hi...I have slight mobility issues. If we took a taxi from the cruise port to Ffryes Beach, how far would I have to walk from the cab to the beach? Is it flat or hilly? Thank you!!

About 50-100'. It's flat with grass and fine sand.

Can you please tell me how you returned to the Cruise Port? Did the same shuttle bring you back? Thank you!

Yes. Just ask the driver when you get in for a return. Tell him the time, and he will be there. Ours introduced us to the lounger seller, and she reminded us well in advance that he was going to be arriving soon! In the rare case of them not being there, there are plenty of others all the time. Most of the drivers are related to the lounger sellers so they tend to work in harmony, and I am sure they could rustle up a cab in a second if you wanted to leave early.

Hi Alberto, I have not seen if you can take a taxi from the port to Ffryes beach, do you know?

When you get off of your ship, you'll go through the Port building. There are many tour vendors and taxi's available. Don't be afraid to do a little negotiating!
