A fun and interesting

A great way to learn about gold, how panning is done. Arlene is a great host, teacher, and interesting too. Six of us enjoyed our visit.

Arlene and Roger were super hosts for my wife and me. We contacted them, even though it was off-season. They emailed us back right away and opened up their mine and gift shop just for us. The gold I panned from the paydirt was more than I expected! It was certainly worth the visit. -- Phil and Liz

My 8 year old son loved this place. He spent over 30 minutes panning for gold after a personal lesson from the really friendly owner. He also took us on a tour to see the old mine entrance, the newly hatched chickens and memorabilia from days past. Also had a fabulous view of Turnagain Arm. We stopped while driving from... More

We saw this on our drive from Seward and decided to stop. That was a great decision. For $1 per person and then $10+ for some soil to find gold in, it was fairly inexpensive for my kids to give it a try. The gentleman there was VERY helpful explaining how to do it and showing my kids what they... More

This was a fun activity enjoyed by all. The drive down from Anchorage was beautiful. The kids found some little pieces of gold and were very happy with their time spent there. The owner came by and showed us how to "pan" for gold and came back by and helped us find a few more pieces of gold in the... More

This is a very small little place, but there is a lot to see. The primary draw of course is the gold panning. If you are patient and listen well it can be very fun but little ones or anyone with a short attention span might not be all that into gold panning as you're looking for very very small... More

I did a gem mine before in Asheville….so I expected something along those lines- pretty easy stuff right? Not at all! The gentleman there was very helpful with teaching us how to use the equipment to find the gold in the pan. We had a great time. We bought the bigger bucket and medium bucket not realizing how much work... More

The décor was very cool, with antique tools and goods from the past. Dan showed us how to pan (and for me some patience), we had a blast. We did find some gold, but the experience was well worth the stop..

This was a nice stop on the Seward Highway. We spent almost two hours panning and have a small vial of gold flakes, garnets, and copper. This is a family business and they were friendly and helpful. My daughter had fun looking around the property and especially enjoyed the duck pond.
