The 20 minute boat ride into the grotto and surrounding caves is worth doing, and relatively inexpensive.

The caves are really small, therefore you actually just peek into them (except for one, where you go entirely inside). The blue can be seen actually only upon exiting the cave and only when looking at a right anle. I don't think the trip is...More

Even though from the free roadside lookout the view of the blue grotto is impressive, from the small boat the blue grotto is fairly ordinary and the other caves very underwhelming. So the small boat trip is basically a tourist trap, they squash 10pax into...More

Guess expectations weren’t high for the Blue Grotto (Il-Hnejja), so there was no disappointment when it didn’t have the wow factor, it was blue but so is the rest of the Mediterranean. That being said, the rest of the time on the boat more than...More

My mum and I took this boat tour today. As the other reviews say, it’s quite short 15-20 mins which isn’t the problem for the 8 euros. They pack 8 people on the boat so if you’re squished in the middle of the last row...More

It's 8 euro's p.p. It's a wonderfull view, but the trip is really short (15 minutes max). The captain seems really bored and just wants the thing to be over ASAP.

We went on the hop on hop off bus. There is a steep walk down to where you get on the boat. This is very well organised and you don't wait long. There were several caves you go in and the driver tells you about...More

On our recent visit to Malta, we headed to the Blue grotto, the last time we were there some 8 years ago we weren't able to get on a boat as it was closed (probably due to inclement weather) this time we were able to...More

We visited during July and went early in the morning to avoid crowds. Many people have mentioned the walk up/down a hill - we got a taxi here which drove us down the hill and collected us at the bottom to bring us back. It...More

My family and I were on a guided tour round Anacapri and was told that the Blue Grotto had been closed for the past few days. Luckily, on the day we were walking, it had opened! We made our way to the Blue Grotto, with...More

when you arrive the hill downward is very steep. There are taxis at bottom to take you back up if need be.

Not sure exactly the time schedule, but I believe the start as early as 9am during the summer. Boats leave regularly, as they hold 7-8 people.
