An interesting 19 minute journey
Jun 2021 • Friends
€8 per person. Whole trip took 19 minutes. Sit at front of boat for best unobstructed views.

Pros
-I saw several caves, stalactites and an arch. Also saw “blue water”.

Cons:
-Not the cheapest trip, but I guess they’ve got to make money back lost due to the pandemic.
-Boatman asking for a tip as we landed was a bit much.

Lovely - but too touristy
Jun 2020 • Family
The blue grotto itself is lovely to see but the wrap around it is a tourist nightmare. The only way to see the geological feature is by boat: que local boats running on a 29 mins timetable wizzing tourists around the five at a very rapid speed for the cost of €8 per person. It was all a bit disappointing really.

Get in a taxi and have a nice trip
Mar 2020 • Friends
We decided not to rent a car than asked for a taxi to get us there.
We were lucky as our driver stoped for us in a nice spot to make some photos. He was driving us to the small town where we could get in a boat ride. Was absolutely a good idea to get on this tour.
Amazing colors and the weather and the blue light were beautiful.

Than we had a coffee got our break and the driver was waiting for us so we had the same driver back to our hotel in Valletta.

Just a cave
Nov 2020
It is a nice cave but not so spectacular. To go inside, you have to get a short boat ride, and have to do it between morning and noon (because of the light inside the cave). Or you just go on top of the cliff and look below, and you will see it is nothing special.

Exquisite Spot
Oct 2020
The blue grotto is a spot not to be missed on a trip to Malta. It's just so amazing to look at. Small boat trips go around in the grotto in the day but it is not necessary to do that. Instead if you go late in the evening (as I did), it is much quieter and you get amazing views of the sunset.

Not worth the effort
Oct 2020 • Couples
It's not that difficult to reach from Rabat (15 mins on bus 201) but it really isn't worth the effort. The boat trip is VERY short and you don't get any worthwhile info whilst on it. Sure, the water is clear but the caves are small and underwhelming. We went when it was quiet I hate to think what it would be like in summer!

Beautiful but crowded
Aug 2020
Apart from being crammed in a boat with no social distancing measures (only concession to COVID was having to wear a mask which other passengers took off enroute), this was an enjoyable although rapid 20-minute experience. The caves and rock formations are beautiful, although I wouldn't say it was worth the €8 fee. You may have to queue a while for a boat, luckily as I was on my own I managed to get the last place on the next boat leaving.

Nice trip
Aug 2020
I think is worth the trip. Yes it is very touristic but it is the only way to visit the place unless you hire a bout just for you.
