If you are into history this is the place for you. My wife and I went to visit some friends in Florida and they suggested this place and I am glad that they did. You can take your time and explore. You can just feel and see what it was like back then at this location. I would recommend it to anyone, whether you are just by yourself, or a couple or a family. It is nice to see history right before your eyes.…

We enjoyed visiting Fort Pickens - a beautiful drive down the gulf coast and the fort itself was very interesting! We brought our picnic lunch with us and ate up by the cannon. Due to Covid, the visitor center wasn't open, but they did have informative signs along the way. Going down dark tunnels and imagining the gunpowder filled to the ceiling was eerie. Such an awesome piece of history. We are from Oklahoma (where Geronimo died) and had no idea this was the place he had been held. Bonus: It was free admission because of a holiday!…

The thing about history; it’s hiding in plain sight - you just have to see it. We visited family in Navarre who asked — late in the afternoon — if we wanted to see the fort. At first not so sure, but now more than happy we went. Great for adults and kids. Lots of “American” history. I even found a huge piece of a cast iron cannon ball along one of the ramparts. Evidently recent storms had unearthed it. Had a great time. …
