About

This zoo is situated in the dense rain forest of Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, just south of Deshaies. It features mostly wildlife of the Caribbean, and provides informative exhibits on both the animal life and the vegetation of the region. There is a rope bridge suspended through the trees over the exhibit cages, only for those who are not bothered by heights. And bouncing bridges. A great family activity.

    TOO LITTLE TIME
As a professional in the field I found this small zoo to be well-presented and maintained. We had a 4-hour excursion which was not nearly enough time to see all of the zoo displays due to the 'Walk in the Treetops' being extremely slow and once on it is near impossible to get off. The excursion needs to be 6-hours to see the zoo and take the treetop walk.

    Great zoo in the forest
We were a big group and had a very great experience at the zoo. It’s a special experience, especially when you come from abroad and are not used to the enormous variety of plants. The zoo is mostly outdoors and makes you walk through the jungle while watching some unique species.

    Family Visit
Generally we dont like zoos, however this zoo is specifically for rescued animals that cannot be released back into the wild. The focus here is on the animals which we found refreshing. Easy to walk around and great to see the animals in natural environments. Cafe was closed when we went, so carry water and only do the high walk if you are relatively fit, it wobbles a lot.

I was sold a zoo with injured animals that were being treated, but ultimately the majority of them are animals born in captivity, and they are all destined to live their entire lives in this zoo. The boa constrictor (life expectancy of 25 to 40 years it seems to me) will therefore be condemned to live in 1m2. I spoke to a lady working in the zoo about the animal welfare which left something to be desired. I cited for example the Puma who was going crazy, she replied that before there were two of them, and that was why he was depressed.. But it's the same for the Anteater who walks 100 steps, the majority of the monkeys who try to get out of there... in short, for me it's a fool's trap, and you have to be heartless to have a pleasant time in this area. I sincerely think that this zoo does not comply with animal welfare, for example for the Puma, an enclosure which seems to me to be less than 65m2 (minimum size for 2 pumas) and have direct contact with the influx of visitors (well safe glass wall but the animal has no place of "privacy").

We had a lovely visit to this little zoo. The enclosure are set within the forest and the animals are well looked after. There is a one way path that ensures you don't miss anything and also high rope bridges that give an amazing experience up in the trees. Don't be deterred if it rains, the leaves on the trees are so big they provide great shelter. It was reasonably priced too and the gift shop had an abundance of souvenirs.

What a really lovely place. Small but entertaining and a lovely interaction with one of the toucans. Set on the edge of the national park, the zoo is inside the rainforest, and how it rained on our visit. Too slippery to do hanging bridge for us. But it didn't take away the beauty, only enhancing the wet, giant tropical leaves, making them shiny and lush in appearance. Well worth a visit to, but can get slippery on the hillside, worth bearing in mind for anyone with mobility issues.

The zoo is surprisingly well designed and ‘stocked’ for a relatively small operation. It’s a great visit if one is respectful of the animals (which all were when we went). Worth doing the little tree-tour, it’s fun. A good alternative thing to do on a morning

The park is nice but:
Thank you for cleaning the windows in this busy time a lot of traces that prevents you from enjoying the show.
To think there are tips before entering the pen of the mice and why not a version in Creole and one in English ...
The playground for children sorry I did not see it ... pity but otherwise it is clean, well marked a good welcome!!!
Good luck...

Beautiful zoo in a rainforest setting. Our whole family loved the zoo and the walkways, the whole zoo was really well kept and the path ways were perfect for our pushchair.
Would highly recommend a visit for other families!

A beautiful rainforest provides the setting for this gem of a zoo in Guadeloupe. Walkways in the sky allow for a unique view of the full range of flora and fauna. Thanks for including signs in English and French. A great, value for money, day out 😄

Second visit in 2 years to this absolutely magnificent zoo.

A tropical green setting where you will come across here and there friendly little lemurs coming to touch your shoulder, multicolored birds, lazy panthers…..

And a walk (if you wish) on wooden walkways above the Canopy!
Prone to vertigo? Choose to stay on the classic ground course.
Not prone to vertigo? Take off for a 20-minute journey through the trees! It’s absolutely extraordinary! Impressive but not dangerous.

Well done to the team at this zoo who respect the animals and it shows and take care of such a magical place!

Don't miss this visit!
