I am an overweight older woman that tries as hard as possible to do hikes in Zion, however I am also afraid of heights. This hike in Kolob Canyon was absolutely beautiful. Challenging in that the trail crosses the creek multiple times and requires up and down passage over rocks and trees, however relatively flat and beautiful. You are in... More

Not far from Cedar City, and en route to Zion, is the north east annex of the National Park. Well maintained road with ever changing dynamic mountain formations will keep you on edge until you get to the end of the road. Many photo ops, such a beautiful park to experience. Many safe pull outs on the way to take... More

Zion Canyon with hikes like the Narrows and Angel's Landing is by far a more unique scenic area. Kolob Canyon is a nice area, but I wouldn't even consider going there unless you have explored the main canyon area (meaning taking the shuttle bus in season to hikes like the Narrows, Angels Landing and Lower Emerald Pool). Only after you... More

We heard a friend speak excitedly about the beauty of this part of Zion and so went to have a first-hand look, and, oh, it's absolutely gorgeous! The visitor center is right off the interstate, and it is here where you either pay the entrance fee or show your pass. The road ascends sharply from there and once you come... More

Kolob Canyon is in the north west park of Zion Park. It takes about an hour to drive there on good highways from Springdale. The drive through the canyon is on paved roads and there are many pull-offs. This part of the park is not nearly as crowded as the main canyon at Springdale. The scenery is well worth the... More

Compared to the main park it was deserted, but still had nice views and hikes. Not as awesome as the main canyon, but still a beautiful place to see.

Kolob Canyons is a unique part of Zion National Park in Utah. It has its own separate entrance and is not connected to the main part of Zion. As a result the number of visitors is greatly reduced, you can drive your own car to the various lookouts and there is a tremendous sense of peace compared to the almost... More

My wife and I really enjoyed the solitude and quiet of Kolob Canyon after our crowded hikes in Zion NP. We hiked the Timber Creek Overlook trail on a Sunday in mid-October as the last day of hiking Zion NP. We were surprised to find a dozen or more cars in the parking lot and that meant we had perhaps... More

Happy we stopped here. It doesn't take a lot of time so swing by. After a long day at the canyon of Zion and dealing with shuttle buses and crowds this was a refreshing stop. Not as crowded and a peaceful hike. Pretty self explanatory park. Park your car, show your Zion ticket to the park staff in Visitor Center... More

Kolob Canyon is just off I-15. It is a smaller but spectacular canyon. We saw this canyon first. The main canyon to the east is even more amazing, but so much more crowded. The entrance fee here is good for both parts of the park for 7 days. We stopped at the visitor center and got a little information. We... More
