If you're going to do this, you must go to the top pool, as the bottom and middle pools are just there to whet your appetite. You can easily get there and back in less than an hour. Not as breathtaking as many of the...More

There are 3 pools. The first and second are nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. We made a call to trek to the third. It was a longish trek but totally worth it.

The hike up to the Emerald pools is reasonably short and nice. Easy up to the first pool, that also has a waterfall. A bit more challenging up to the upper two, but not difficult.

This was a nice hike to start the day and get the blood flowing. It was about a 2 mile hike with nice places to stop and take photos and the 3 different pools/waterfalls. If doing this hike you must go all the way because...More

This is a pleasant, easy trail that anyone can do. While the 'pools' are nothing special, the geology and the vegetation in the area is more than enough reason to take this hike.

Okay hike. Low water. Not a must do hike by any means. If u do it the upper pool is the most impressive.

took the hike to all 3 pools in July, it got super hot by the time we reached the top. trail was not that crowded but the upper pool was. Nice hike, listen to the advice and take plenty of water and sunscreen!

You can take either lower or upper pool trail. Either or and you'll see lovely views of the Pools. Despite having low water, it was still lovely.

Beautiful hike. Not to difficult but a little steep at times. May be difficult with children. Definitely worth doing!

No, you don't need a guide for these hikes. (I don't know about The subway). For Narrows you might need some equipment that you can rent near the entrance to the Park. Emerald Pools is an easy hike if you start from the... More

I think it will depend on your ability and determination. I am 61 and have a bad knee but I am in good shape otherwise. I took lots of breaks and my daughter helped me down the steeper parts of the upper pool trail (going... More
