We drove the whole length of this national park, stopping frequently for pictures and taking a hike. We could have used more time and explored more. It is a beautiful area and well kept up. Deer and bears were seen.

My wife and I did this on day two of a hiking trip. 1700 foot elevation change but the trail is 3.9 miles long so it is not straight up. It is a pretty good climb but not straight up. There are two ways to get to the top, the first is to follow the Appalachian trail which is of... More

My husband took me on part of the AT that he hiked this past summer from Springer Mountain to Harper's Ferry. It gives you a better appreciation on the endurance hikers go through.

We hiked the Appalachian Trail for 1 mile before going on to another trail in the Shenandoah National Park. It was in October and difficult to see the trail due to all the leaves. The entire 3.5 mile hike was difficult as it was rocky and steep.

The trail is 3,500km long and our experience of it was in the Skyland area. The trail is well structured and clearly marked. The area we were in felt very safe and we had good weather

Not to be missed. The AT around Loft Mountain Campground offers some stunning views and hiking to suit all levels of ability. Our group ranged from 6 to 52 and everyone was able to enjoy the AT and the surrounding trails. We hit Frazier Discovery and Doyle's Falls. Good times. Bring some food and water and be prepared for some... More

The trail is bad - rocky and not a good hike for kids or seniors. We are seniors and did about a mile from our Shenandoah Lodge. It was good, but I wouldn't recommend this trail to anyone.

We enjoyed our hikes on the Appalachian Trail winding through the mountains of Shenandoah National Park. We hiked two different sections and found both to be moderate trails.

We spent 3 days in the Shenandoah National Park doing day hikes off Skyline Drive. The area is beautiful and the trails are great. They are some of the best marked and maintained trails we have walked. There are trails for everyone from easy to difficult.
