The AT is more flat that many of the other trails in the Shenandoah National Park. It is a good connector for many of the trails. The rangers are excellent in assisting and making recommendations for hikes.

You can hike and experience the beauty of natural America on this epic trail. Many starting point, and skill levels. Go at your own pace. Many places to stop and rest for the night.

We asked ranger at visitor center what's the best hike if we have only 4 hours to hang around Shenandoah. One of the spots he recommended is at mile 15.9. There is no sign for this trail so you'll just have to slow down and...More

We only completed a short section of the Appalachian Trail, but loved it. Well maintained and great for wildlife. We saw a number of deer and even a black bear.

Hiking around here it is just beautiful, you can choose easy paths or hard one. Great views and places to stop for pictures. Make sure you follow the hiking trail and have shoes for this activity.

The SNP is very convenient for many visitors, especially from Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We have hiked 3 times in the park on the Appalachian Trail, most recently trough Bog Meadows and Skyland. We stayed at the shelters on the AT, but in tents...More

Thats a difficult question to answer. If going to SNP all the campgrounds tend to be close to the AT.

For this trail, hiking boots are a definite musts. Keeping anti-bug spray is a good idea because even if you don't encounter mosquitos, it is important to be protected against the east coast ticks. The trail is marked with... More
