Not to be missed. The AT around Loft Mountain Campground offers some stunning views and hiking to suit all levels of ability. Our group ranged from 6 to 52 and everyone was able to enjoy the AT and the surrounding trails. We hit Frazier Discovery and Doyle's Falls. Good times. Bring some food and water and be prepared for some... More

The trail is bad - rocky and not a good hike for kids or seniors. We are seniors and did about a mile from our Shenandoah Lodge. It was good, but I wouldn't recommend this trail to anyone.

We enjoyed our hikes on the Appalachian Trail winding through the mountains of Shenandoah National Park. We hiked two different sections and found both to be moderate trails.

The AT is a national treasure and I am happy that I live close enough to enjoy it in all its splendor

We spent 3 days in the Shenandoah National Park doing day hikes off Skyline Drive. The area is beautiful and the trails are great. They are some of the best marked and maintained trails we have walked. There are trails for everyone from easy to difficult.

We have been on part of the Appalachian Trail near Clingman's Dome in the Smoky Mountains and even near the start of the AT in Georgia. I can't imagine the exhilaration one must feel after having hiked the entire length of the AT. I know this won't ever be a possibility/reality for us, but we have done small sections. Near... More

We hiked the part of the AT trail that coincides with the Stony Man trail. The view at the peak of that hike is unbelievable and it's fun to run into the AT thru-hikers as well.

We camped for a night near Loft Mountain, and hiked to Doyle's Falls and the Black Rock summit loop. Great camping experience with bathrooms and bear-proof trash & storage facilities. Ate lunch at the Loft Mountain camp store, which is well-provisioned.

The kids complained (of course) but the adults loved the hiking trails! It was windy the day we went, which made it a little harder but I loved it!
