This lake is located at a private Christian camp, and they were actively using it when we got there. It is a very pretty location, but if you are going there for gas because there are very few stations on the road to Kings Canyon,...More

Hume Lake is a picturesque reservoir with beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. We took a short hike along the trail, but did not go all the way around the lake. Some wildlife enhanced the experience. There is a Christian camp...More

You would not think there could be a lake at such a high altitude. We drove in and could see deep canyons below and said surely there cannot be a lake this high up. Sure enough there is one. We only saw a bit of...More

Interesting lake and a nice canoeing spot. Also has a nice canteen where one can have a snack or even lunch. Also has a Gas station....we filled up Gas here on our return to Red Wood City.

This lake was incredible! My family stopped here at the end of the day but if we had gone there earlier I would have wanted to stay all day! We went swimming in the lake which was chilly but not as cold as I thought...More

We went here on a ranger's recommendation as a place to rent a kayak and enjoy a milkshake. Sounds quiet and lovely, doesn't it? Imagine our surprise as we drove in and saw what seemed like two hundred kids enjoying an unstructured summer camp with...More

Hume Lake is a nice side trip but if you are short on time, I would pass this up. There are too many prettier things to see.

Hume lake is a beautiful spot on a great route through the national park. We visited during peak season when camps were on, so it was overtaken with kids enjoying some summer fun, but that did not detract from it's beauty.

There are some OHV trails to the Northeast side of the lake overlooking Kings canyon but it is a several mile walk to see anything significant. Some good hikes if you don't mind driving include big baldy trail heads and... More

The storage space includes a metal lock box that is large enough for up to 3 standard size iced chests. No power, refrigerator or shower facilities. Toilets and water spigots are all that you will find.
