Hard to beat for majestic mountain scenery. Mountainsides full of wildflowers, cascading waterfalls, and a raging river. From beginning to literally road's end, this is a terrific scenic drive. Plan half a day, at least. More if you want to do some good hikes. Take...More

The drive from the park entrance to roads end is stunning. From the heights to the valley floor water was cascading, spring flowers putting on a show and the weather perfect. The day in Kings Canyon made it one of our favorite parks out of...More

We drove into Kings Canyon & stopped at the Visitors Center there. The ranger recommended the drive up Kings Canyon to Grizzly Falls & Roaring River Falls. What a great drive! Snow capped peaks of the Sierras and the waterfalls were terrific! Both were very...More

We were in awe the whole time while in the Kings canyon. The falls were majestic as was the river running thru. Great for hiking when in the park.

What a gem of a place with water falls, mountains, valleys, river, it's all there with great turnouts for views and pictures. The entire trip was spectacular. Granted we got there when flowers were in bloom and rains provided better water features. Even without these,...More

This drive opened on 4/28/2017 and we did it on 4/30 and 5/1/17. While I think it would be awesome any time, I feel that early in the season like this, the wildflowers and waterfalls, etc. are exceptional right now. The first day we drove...More

We absolutely loved Kings Canyon and the scenic byway really is the way to get to know it. Loads of viewing points and lay-bys to pull into and just drink in the views of the valley, peaks and majestic Sequioia trees. We spend four days...More

I loved this Park. We visited both Yosemite and Sequoia the same week. Yosemite is a must see but so is this. It is worth a trip. The Trees are some of the most amazing in the world.

We spent a great day driving Kings Canyon Scenic Byway. There are a number of places to stop and explore along the way with varying scenery as you get deeper in to the Canyon.

This scenic byway has everything waterfalls/drive along river/forest and more. Best season is Spring. We visited Spring of 2016 and river flow was rushing with sound. All water falls were amazing. Take more time and picnic stuff to spent quality time on each spot.

What road is this? Where does it start/end? Around how long is it? I'd appreciate any help!

I believe it is hwy 180 too. I'm not sure exact mileage, it took us about 2 1/2 hours in good weather to travel through the highway, but note we did make some stops along the way. If you are going to make the effort to... More

We have only two days inside the park. I want to see KC. Was thinking of doing the KC drive to end one day including Grants Grove area & Panoramic Point & Grizzly Falls. Is Hume Lake to far off the path to include in the day? Then the second day doing the road thru Sequoia. We wanted to see Gen. Sherman, Tunnel Log, Hospital Rock, do the Congress Loop, the Big Trees Trail and the Crescent Meadow Trail to Tharps Log and Chimney Tree.. Is this a doable plan in your experience.
