This is one of our favorites. Most of the trail is earth but there are some rocky slopes to cross. Bring plenty of water and wear good hiking boots. You walk through a forest that has the big sequoias and large areas of new growth....More

Little Baldy was our favorite trail of 40 miles we hiked on 17 trails during a 2 week vacation in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It is nicely shade, has alot of variation, saw marmots and a deer with a fawn, but best of all it...More

The initial portion of the hike was a steep climb, but the switchbacks made it relatively easy and we were rewarded with wildflowers, stunning views of the Sierras and the panoramas from the rock itself.

We arrived at Sequoia after a long flight and a long drive from San Francisco. This was the perfect hike for us to get out of the car and stretch our legs after a long day of travel. The hike ascends quickly through some switchbacks...More

I am planning another trip to Sequoia ten years after my first visit in 2007. At that time, I hiked Little Baldy and experienced the most amazing phenomenon - as I stood at the peak, I noticed clouds rolling in BELOW me. A patient wait...More

This was the best hike of the trip! It was strenuous but not the most difficult hike I've ever done. It's only 1.7 miles (I think) with a good elevation gain (800 feet, I think) and switchbacks at the beginning, leading to varying terrain. The...More

This trail was recommended in a book as a less crowded alternative to the Moro Rock Trail. The views from the top of Little Baldy are fabulous. While I was on the trail I only meet two other hiking groups. I took two hours to...More

This trail is not only beautiful, but is also doable for the novice hiker. We enjoyed great views of Sequoia and the valley below.

The view from the top of Little Baldy is stunning. Virtually a 360 degree view. My camera on panoramic mode could only get half way round. The walk isn't difficult. A bit rocky and steepish in a few places but not challenging. The view is...More
