Little Baldy was our first hike within the park and exceeded our expectations. We came across this hike in our “Easy Day hikes” book (found at the local park stores). The hike requires some ascending switchbacks and a brief walk through the woods, which spits...More

That's what the ranger who recommended this hike said, and I think she was right. Of course, you have to hike to get here, but it's on the easy side of a moderate trail. Very few people, so we had the 360 viewpoint all to...More

We enjoyed visiting this area, breathing the pristine and thin air of an elevation of 7335' and being surrounded by huge trees!

This is one of our favorites. Most of the trail is earth but there are some rocky slopes to cross. Bring plenty of water and wear good hiking boots. You walk through a forest that has the big sequoias and large areas of new growth....More

Little Baldy was our favorite trail of 40 miles we hiked on 17 trails during a 2 week vacation in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It is nicely shade, has alot of variation, saw marmots and a deer with a fawn, but best of all it...More

The initial portion of the hike was a steep climb, but the switchbacks made it relatively easy and we were rewarded with wildflowers, stunning views of the Sierras and the panoramas from the rock itself.

We arrived at Sequoia after a long flight and a long drive from San Francisco. This was the perfect hike for us to get out of the car and stretch our legs after a long day of travel. The hike ascends quickly through some switchbacks...More

We did a 10 day trip while in CA 5 years back - flew into San Diego and drove through the Mojave desert and stayed in Three Rivers. Two of my kids enjoyed this trail more than Disneyland. Great views, lovely wildlife sightings, challenging but...More

I am planning another trip to Sequoia ten years after my first visit in 2007. At that time, I hiked Little Baldy and experienced the most amazing phenomenon - as I stood at the peak, I noticed clouds rolling in BELOW me. A patient wait...More

This was the best hike of the trip! It was strenuous but not the most difficult hike I've ever done. It's only 1.7 miles (I think) with a good elevation gain (800 feet, I think) and switchbacks at the beginning, leading to varying terrain. The...More
