I would wait until after Labor Day, and before the park closes the road to the Alpine Center to visit. The traffic during the summer is terribly congested. There was no place to park, and we had to circle the parking lot several times to...More

This is a wonderful stop at a high altitude to take in the view and use the facilities. The rangers are helpful for planning.

Cafe - A little pricey definitely, but filling enough. Tried the "Elk Brat", pulled pork bun and the chili dog. You can also find bags of chips (extremely puffed up, probably due to the altitude = almost 12,000 feet!), pretzels, hot dogs, chili and more!...More

Being extra layers of clothes as the snow line is close. Nice place to stop and some food items are available as well as a large gift shop.

Although crowded, be sure to check out the exhibit on the Ute Native Americans, the first residents of the park. It was interesting to learn that a lot of the trails in the park were originally trails made by Utes, and were esteemed as essentially...More

The visitor center provides beautiful pictures as well as activities. If you have children be sure to ask for the junior ranger activity book. It is full of scavenger hunts for the whole family and at the end your child will receive a badge. This...More
