Very windy day as we drove through this area. The tall grasses looked like waves on the ocean. Some nice views. Once we saw a mountain lion paw print and its lunch, so be careful and just perhaps you might see one.

We drove here at the end of Sept to view the annual elk rutt and is was fascinating; it was also viewed by thousands of tourists both here in upper beaver meadow and other meadows. The full grown male elk is a majestic beast and it is very interesting to watch him watch his harem at this time of year.... More

This is a "road less traveled" experience. There is a parking area with a trail leading into ponderosa-studded parkland that in August sports a variety of wildflowers and birds such as Green-tailed Towhees, White-crowned Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos. There are short trails into elk pen areas with vegetation thicker than the areas outside the fences. The picnic area is shaded... More

This is a review written by a senior (late 70's) for seniors. My first word is, "forget it!" Yet in light of the fact that I did this hike in less than the usual 5 hours listed in some hiking guides (my time was 4 hours), and in light of the fact that I had already done an appetizer hike... More

Stopped here and enjoyed an awesome quiet picnic in the cool breezy valley with a wonderful view! 10 tables, 6 with grills... Our favorite lunch was here, grilling and chilling while the kids played. Just gorgeous!

We did this hike in October and it is fairly easy. Steady uphill climb going either way. We went clockwise and found the uphill to be a little more going in that direction. You get to walk through heavy wooded areas as well as an open field. In the fall there a re lots of color on the trees and... More

This area, about a mile in from the park entrance and at 8400 feet, has a nicely shaded picnic area and if you drive further there is a parking lot with several trail options. All of them provide for a pleasant hike. The one I like best starts by walking back along the road for a couple of hundred yards.... More

The Park was pretty busy this day but Upper Beaver Trail was pretty quiet and we really enjoyed the gentle walk, the special vistas and we even saw a couple of elk! Quiet and clean picnic area that we enjoyed after our trek. Very memorable ... we are so thankful to have RMNP as a place to visit and appreciate!

I'm married to a photographer, I just like long loop trails. We both are happy on this one. You'll see aspens, Elk, Ponderosa Pines and wildflowers. It's a moderate plus hike. It will get your heart rate up. And the views are killer. There is a toilet at the trailhead.

Ahhhh. What a nice trail. And it's short, easy and full of the reasons why you came here. Breathe deep, friend. Relax.
